Este trabalho se faz no encruzilhar dos caminhos de Mãe Dora de Oyá, Makota Kidoiale e meu. Seguindo suas narrativas e suas histórias, caminhamos juntas entre seus terreiros e as universidades em que atuaram como professoras por meio do Projeto Encontro de Saberes. O livro trata, a partir do conceito-chave de pedagogia do ebó, sobre uma reflexão acerca das transformações produzidas por duas mestras dos conhecimentos tradicionais na universidade, em termos espistêmicos, metodológicos e pedagógicos. Interessa-me perceber como a educação se consolida enquanto um projeto coletivo de suas comunidades, liderado por elas, e que tem, no encontro com as universidades, mais um elemento importante, que permite pensar sobre as reelaborações feitas por elas naqueles espaços. Considerando que os terreiros de religiões de matriz africana formam epistemicamente este país, trazemos as mestras para a centralidade da produção analítica e intelectual deste trabalho. A costura entre suas histórias e a minha é o modo que encontrei para dar, neste texto, o tom do que foi a construção da pesquisa e da obra. Ao longo do livro, são transversalizados temas como educação, universidade, políticas afirmativas e insubmissão.
