Nearly four years after an errant tackle left him paralyzed below the waist, the inspiring comeback story of how former Pittsburgh Steeler Ryan Shazier recovered to walk again. As an All-American at Ohio State and All-Pro linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ryan Shazier was living his best life while excelling at the game he loves, a game that has given him so much. But then Ryan was forced to redefine success. Suddenly, it was no longer measured by tackles or sacks, but by purpose and faith. WALKING MIRACLE is the story of this new definition of success, following the arc from December 4, 2017, when Shazier was injured playing the Cincinnati Bengals, to his retirement. For three years, Shazier doggedly pursued a return to professional football. He took small wins as “first downs” on the drive to return to the field: moving his toes, walking, dancing at his wedding, and ultimately running and returning to the team. What Shazier didn’t realize is that along the way, he was preparing himself for another purpose—that of father and husband, philanthropist, and football analyst. The journey was preparing him not for a renewed life as a middle linebacker, but a renewed life after the game. Here we see Shazier overcome childhood alopecia, which caused a great deal of emotional pain, and scoliosis, which nearly robbed him of his dreams of playing college and professional football. We gain insights into legendary coaches Urban Meyer and Mike Tomlin. And we see him star on the field. Shazier was one of the best defensive players in Steeler history—a history full of great defensive stars. WALKING MIRACLE—the message on a bracelet given to him by his godmother—is the story of Ryan’s comeback, but it’s also a book of life’s lessons, challenges, and a love letter to the power of positive thinking.

She had no pulse and was taken to the hospital. Though the doctors held little hope, God had a plan for her. After forty-eight hours, she opened her eyes and began the road to recovery. But then, she faced another challenge... A divorce. In A Walking Miracle, Eid shares her story of how she overcame these critical setbacks and got back on her feet. She tells how she knew, deep down, that God had a special purpose in mind for her life and future. He awakened her faith, and through that, Eid ultimately found peace. Eid tells how she believes God brings trials into our lives to give us more of Him. The purpose of the trials is that we don’t rely on ourselves in those moments, but look to Him for salvation, hope, and joy. We need to lean on God, fix our eyes on His glory, and cling to the truth found in Jesus because He is always enough for us.

After suffering a severe stroke, God made it clear to me how unconditional love should look. It was like He reached down and took people out of my life and replaced them with new ones. If that was not enough, God reminded me of Genesis 12, when He said to Abram, get out of your country, from your family and friends in and around Tacoma Washington, and go to Florida where nobody knows you and spread the news for Me, and that is what we have done. The Amazing God we serve surrounded us with loving, compassionate and caring people. He has shown us how unimportant this body really is in the scheme of things. We can now see beyond the fog of this world into eternity. The things of this world that were once so important, are now passing glimpses. My husband and I do not know what God has in store for us, but what we do know, we do not care, because we are His to use as He wishes. We have learned that if you rest in Jesus; he will take care of all your needs. I am a walking miracle is just one example of how God can work in our lives bringing about Joy while everything in our lives seems to be totally bad or out of sync. It's not who you are, or what you have that keeps you safe from all the evils of life. It is putting total trust in God in all situations. He will provide you with the understanding and wisdom to get you through the disappointments and pitfalls of this world. We sometimes forget that this seemingly forever life is just a short walk in the park with the scenery being the ups, downs, mishaps, and tragedies. We must look beyond this life into eternity where there will be only JOY. Hopefully, this book will help you see that in the worst possible circumstances you can still live a life of Joy.
