A WEDDING WITH SPIRIT has been written for the bride and groom who are searching for something more for their wedding—not more as in bigger, grander, or more lavish, but more as in more meaningful, gracious, and sacred. Ritual and liturgy experts Gertrud Mueller Nelson and Christopher Witt have helped hundreds of couples plan their ceremonies and in these pages they have distilled their years of experience into some basic principles. Instead of trying to orchestrate “the happiest day of your life” and suffering through catering nightmares, Nelson and Witt help the couple see the wedding as a moment in the larger context of their love. To create such a wedding, A WEDDING WITH SPIRIT offers advice in general principles such as location, participants, symbols, prayers, format, readings, blessings, and music. Sections include: * A look at the history and meaning behind familiar wedding traditions * A walk through the ceremony (including the rites of gathering, the readings, and the exchanging of vows and rings) and the reception * Practical advice for the invitations, the rehearsal, and the programs * Pre-marriage guidance (including pertinent meditations and prayers) to enable the bride and groom to begin their union with a firm footing *Three model weddings incorporating all the principles of A WEDDING WITH SPIRIT A WEDDING WITH SPIRIT ensures that one’s wedding day will be about the sacredness of a committed love between two people, about love’s ability to create and nurture life, and about the faithfulness and hope that such a love gives witness to.

The Balanced Bride, by house author Leah Ingram (The Portable Wedding Consultant, Your Wedding Your Way, You Shouldn't Have, etc.) concerns an oft-neglected aspect of being engaged; namely, the bride's mental, spiritual, and physical health. While spending hours researching and securing the perfect reception site, invitation, ceremony wording, attire, honeymoon, gift registry, and so on, many brides scrimp on taking care of themselves and their relationship with the groom. All of this often results in a stressed-out bride who does not truly enjoy her engagement, barely remembers the joy of her ceremony and reception, and--worst of all--misses the larger, more meaningful, picture of what it means to get married. Even top bridal designer Vera Wang recently confessed that she was so stressed walking down the aisle in 2001 that she didn't know if she'd remembered her veil! The Balanced Bride is a unique guide to navigating an engagement and laying the groundwork for a strong and lasting marriage. In this book, veteran bridal author Leah Ingram breaks down the topic of nurturing the bride into three main areas: Mind, Body, and Spirit. Writing in the friendly, accessible tone for which

‘That’s you’, said Stephen Mason when his son Christopher showed him the photograph. But it wasn’t. Though identical in almost every feature, the man in the photograph was a peasant named Baht Way from ‘the Great Land’, a Far Eastern country whose cruel and beautiful landscape stands in contrast to the glittering ‘Great City’ which it borders. This is the haunting starting-point of Spirit Weddings, a literary detective story that explores the themes of identity, illusion and the influence of the past on the present. Stephen has long been settled in England, but he was brought up in the Great City when it was a Free Port under British control. Could Baht Way possibly be the son of one of his sisters – Pauline, now the self-righteously opinionated wife of a vicar, or poor Tessa, a lost soul who died years ago? Urged on by Christopher, who has his own reasons for meeting his ‘ghostly twin’, Stephen travels back to the city of his childhood. The facts he uncovers force him to face disconcerting truths about himself, his past and his family, including a terrible act of destructive hypocrisy by someone he thought he knew. Encompassing the high domestic comedy of a quarrelsome Sunday lunch in the Home Counties and the potent menace of an expedition into a further secret world within the City, Spirit Weddings reinforces Gillian Tindall’s reputation as one of Britain’s finest novelists. She unlocks her sad, shocking, truthful tale with the mastery of pace and elegant precision of an assured storyteller on superb form.

“Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb” (Revelation 19:9). What is the end of the age? What is the wedding supper? Are you prepared? Like us, the apostles asked those very questions. In the Bible, the wedding supper refers to what will happen at the end of the age. Jesus answered by telling the apostles the parable of the ten virgins, a reference to those on earth who know about the end of days. He advised the apostles that only half of those who know the end is coming will be prepared; only half of those who know about the end of days will have enough oil to keep their lamps burning through the long night of waiting. The other half will be at the market looking for oil and will miss the coming of Jesus. That would mean half of the people who know that Jesus is coming back are not prepared for his return. We need to gather oil for our lamps throughout our lives through prayer, through reading the Bible. The Holy Spirit was sent to prepare us for the wedding supper. Does God still perform miracles or speak to His people? At the age of four, I clearly heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say to me, “You can have joy in your life if you walk with me.” This is a personal testimony of how the Lord heals the ones He loves, walks with us, and surrounds us with His peace.
