This book is an essential read for everyone who is curious about how we humans came to exist and interested in understanding the science and social evolution that enabled us to establish that a Big Bang actually happened. The text uniquely explains the transitions between the various evolutionary plateaus: from the universe’s beginning in the Big Bang, to the emergence of Homo sapiens, highlighting the Mediterranean civilizations of Greece and Rome, the European Renaissance, the English industrial revolution, and the early European science discoveries, particularly those in physics, to the American Manhattan Project and the subsequent development of the new field of high-energy particle physics. This entire route, which eventually culminated in the discovery of the mass-giving Higgs boson, is clearly articulated in this monumental but concise work.

Since the time of the Reformation—some Christians have argued that the historic church’s practice of infant baptism is without proper biblical warrant. The most frequently heard refrain from those in this camp is that, because the New Testament contains no explicit command to baptize the infant children of believers, the practice is ultimately based upon an “argument from silence.” In Infant Baptism and the Silence of the New Testament, Bryan Holstrom turns that assertion on its head, by demonstrating that, far from being an argument against infant baptism, the silence of the New Testament in this regard is actually support for the practice. Moreover, he demonstrates that the New Testament actually has much to say in support of the baptism of infants, albeit in indirect (but important) ways. The result is a straightforward and non-technical presentation of the biblical case for infant baptism that is designed to help Christians on both sides of the divide better understand the issues involved, and appreciate the covenantal basis upon which the Reformed church retained the historic practice.

A provocative challenge to Darwin’s theory of evolution • Shows there is no missing link because the human race, since day one, is the result of outright interbreeding among highly diverse types • Reveals multiple “Gardens of Eden” and how each continent has its own independent hominid lineages • Explains Homo sapiens’ mental powers (the Great Leap Forward) and how we acquired the “blood of the gods,” which endowed us with a soul Did we evolve from apes, or are we all descendants of Adam and Eve? Why is the “missing link” still missing? Is the dumb luck of natural selection valid? Piecing together the protohistory of humanity through anthropology, genetics, paleolinguistics, and indigenous traditions, Susan B. Martinez offers an entirely original alternative to Darwin’s evolution: Modern humanity did not evolve but is a mosaic of mixed ancestry, the result of eons of cross-breeding and retro-breeding among different groups, including Cro-Magnon, Neanderthal, hobbits, giants, and Africa’s “Lucy” and “Zinj.” Martinez shows that there were multiple “Gardens of Eden” and how each continent had its own blend of races prior to the Great Flood, which caused the diaspora that brought a renaissance of culture to every division of the Earth. Martinez explains Homo sapiens’ mental powers (the Great Leap Forward) in cosmological terms--how we are the product of both heaven and earth. She identifies the “Sons of Heaven” and the angel-engendered races, explaining how Homo sapiens acquired the “blood of the gods,” which endowed us with a soul. Providing the ultimate resolution to the Evolution versus Creationism debate, this landmark study of hybrid man justifies his unexpectedly sudden appearance in the fossil record, the curious parallels between oral histories of the world’s people, and why anatomically modern features are found in the earliest paleontological evidence.

The Supraconscience Of Humanity written by Edward H. Strauch and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing PLC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-05-25 with Philosophy categories.
Humankind evolved through three psychological stages - subconscience, conscience, and supraconscience. Ritual and myth, cosmology and theism marked phases of psychic integration, initiating our supraconscience evolution. Four archetypes: temperance, "the great chain of being," Biblical interpretation, and Divinity became the Cosmic consciousness of secular man. Study of Scripture developed a communal supraconscience. Mystics' dedication showed us the deeper meaning of a life purpose. Yet, heretics taught man faith in the superior power of the free mind. Heresy helped evolve humanity's secular supraconscience. Indeed, the exponential growth of psyche's powers and the continuous revelation of new, secular knowledge seems the fulfillment of Revelation. Finally, the enlightened understood that when God created the earth, he included evolution so that our kind would evolve a superior nature. Hence, religious and scientific, secular and humanistic developments reveal themselves to be the primary powers accelerating human evolution. Together, they have nurtured humankind's ever-evolving supraconscience.

Auden S O written by Andrew W. Hass and has been published by SUNY Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-01 with Religion categories.
Explores the rise of the idea of nothing in Western modernity and how its figuration is transforming and offering new possibilities. In this groundbreaking, interdisciplinary history of ideas, Andrew W. Hass explores the ascendency of the concept of nothing into late modernity. He argues that the rise of the reality of nothing in religion, philosophy, and literature has taken place only against the decline of the concept of One: a shift from a sovereign understanding of the One (unity, universality) toward the figure of the Oa cipher figure that, as nonentity, is nevertheless determinant of other realities. The figuring of this O culminates in a proliferation of literary expressions of nothingness, void, and absence from 1940 to 1960, but by centurys end, this movement has shifted from linear progression to mutation, whereby religion, theology, philosophy, literature, and other critical modes of thought, such as feminism, merge into a shared, circular activity. The writer W. H. Auden lends his name to this O, his long poetic work The Sea and the Mirror an exemplary manifestation of its implications. Hass examines this work, along with that of a host of writers, philosophers, and theologians, to trace the revolutionary hermeneutics and creative space of the O, and to provide the reasoning of why nothing is now such a powerful force in the imagination of the twenty-first century, and of how it might move us through and beyond our turbulent times.
