Michael H. Barras was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but calls Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi home. He came to live in California in 1960 where he now reside and pastors The Love of God Church, located in the City of Bellflower, California. Pastor Barras has had a love for music since his childhood. In 1965 he began his singing career in various nightclubs in Los Angeles, California and was successful in recording two records. After singing for: several years in the secular world, Michael Barras changed his lifestyle. In 1975 he became a member of Strait-Way Apostolic Church under the leadership of Elder C.C. Queen, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and eventually Assistant Pastor. In 1986 he was called to pastor The Love of God Church. In 1990 he received his Doctorate Degree in Theology from the Total Hard Concept Institute. In September 1994 he was inspired by God to produce his first album entitled "Power Over The Storm", Contemporary Gospel Music/featuring the #1 (wedding) song "The Miracle Is You", on his own LOGC label. This album contains ten (10) original songs performed, written and arranged by Michael H. Barras.

Among the congregants are a single grandmother, evicted from her home and marginalized by her family, wondering what comes next; a lesbian couple struggling to be good foster parents to a young man who's discovering his way; an African-American female impersonator returning to COW after a long absence and finding the love of his life; a dual-gendered man, whose son runs away after finding him dressed in women's clothes, giving these clothes to Goodwill and vowing to play it straight; a nameless chain-smoker lurking in the church's shadows and imagining the worst; and diverse others - whose stories touch upon the challenges faced by LGBT Christians as they strive to embrace and share God's love and reconcile themselves to a world that often doesn't support them - collectively considering how to respond to their long-serving pastor's imminent retirement. Robert Hill was raised in an Army family, then served 20 years as a U.S. Army officer. After retiring from active duty, he spent a decade working in broadcasting and education and, as fate would have it, returned to the Army as a civilian, writing doctrine and developing curriculum. He's been a life-long churchgoer, going where the spirit has led. Over the years, he and his family have been members of Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian and Metropolitan Community Church congregations. After spending a year in Afghanistan from 2009-2010, he decided at age 54 to get a tattoo. He chose these words from 1 John 4:18 -- There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out all fear. In life's journey, it is important that we know our basic human rights as these rights enhance our lives. For example, naturally, we have the right to life and liberty without discrimination. Spiritually we have the same rights, however, many live without exercising their rights. In the same token, Faith has been given to you without discrimination. We have the right to release our faith because every person has been given the measure of faith. So why aren't we using it? I had someone recently come to me seeking answers to the hardship they were facing at the time. They had borrowed all they could have borrowed and believed as much as they could; however, they were still wondering how and why they were in the same situation. I began to remind them of who they were and of their rights as a believer. Mark 11:23 states, "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith." Well, you and I are a Whosoever and we can have Whatsoever we say. We have to say the right things as we release our faith for manifestation. According to Romans 12:3-6, "God has dealt with every man the measure of faith." There is no lack of faith and there is a grace for every area of our lives to prosper. Ultimately, we have faith in the grace to prosper. We simply must use our words to bring into manifestation what God has already provided.
