Accounting And Statistical Analyses For Sustainable Development written by Claudia Lemke and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022 with categories.

In this Open Access publication Claudia Lemke develops a comprehensive Multi-Level Sustainable Development Index (MLSDI) that is applicable to micro, meso, and macro objects by conducting methodological and empirical research. Multi-level comparability is crucial because the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at macro level can only be achieved if micro and meso objects contribute. The author shows that a novel information-theoretic algorithm outperforms established multivariate statistical weighting methods such as the principal component analysis (PCA). Overcoming further methodological shortcomings of previous sustainable development indices, the MLSDI avoids misled managerial and political decision making. About the author Dr. Claudia Lemke holds a doctorate degree in Sustainability Accounting and Management Control from the Technische Universität Berlin. She worked several years as a Senior Research Associate in the field of sustainability science and corporate sustainability. She is now employed as a Supply Chain Sustainability Manager and is responsible for driving sustainability in the FMCG industry.

Computational Intelligent Data Analysis For Sustainable Development written by Ting Yu and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-04 with Business & Economics categories.

Going beyond performing simple analyses, researchers involved in the highly dynamic field of computational intelligent data analysis design algorithms that solve increasingly complex data problems in changing environments, including economic, environmental, and social data. Computational Intelligent Data Analysis for Sustainable Development presents novel methodologies for automatically processing these types of data to support rational decision making for sustainable development. Through numerous case studies and applications, it illustrates important data analysis methods, including mathematical optimization, machine learning, signal processing, and temporal and spatial analysis, for quantifying and describing sustainable development problems. With a focus on integrated sustainability analysis, the book presents a large-scale quadratic programming algorithm to expand high-resolution input-output tables from the national scale to the multinational scale to measure the carbon footprint of the entire trade supply chain. It also quantifies the error or dispersion between different reclassification and aggregation schemas, revealing that aggregation errors have a high concentration over specific regions and sectors. The book summarizes the latest contributions of the data analysis community to climate change research. A profuse amount of climate data of various types is available, providing a rich and fertile playground for future data mining and machine learning research. The book also pays special attention to several critical challenges in the science of climate extremes that are not handled by the current generation of climate models. It discusses potential conceptual and methodological directions to build a close integration between physical understanding, or physics-based modeling, and data-driven insights. The book then covers the conservation of species and ecologically valuable land. A case study on the Pennsylvania Dirt and Gravel Roads Program demonstrates that multiple-objective linear programming is a more versatile and efficient approach than the widely used benefit targeting selection process. Moving on to renewable energy and the need for smart grids, the book explores how the ongoing transformation to a sustainable energy system of renewable sources leads to a paradigm shift from demand-driven generation to generation-driven demand. It shows how to maximize renewable energy as electricity by building a supergrid or mixing renewable sources with demand management and storage. It also presents intelligent data analysis for real-time detection of disruptive events from power system frequency data collected using an existing Internet-based frequency monitoring network as well as evaluates a set of computationally intelligent techniques for long-term wind resource assessment. In addition, the book gives an example of how temporal and spatial data analysis tools are used to gather knowledge about behavioral data and address important social problems such as criminal offenses. It also applies constraint logic programming to a planning problem: the environmental and social impact assessment of the regional energy plan of the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Sustainable development problems, such as global warming, resource shortages, global species loss, and pollution, push researchers to create powerful data analysis approaches that analysts can then use to gain insight into these issues to support rational decision making. This volume shows both the data analysis and sustainable development communities how to use intelligent data analysis tools to address practical problems and encourages researchers to develop better methods.

The Oxford Handbook Of Environmental And Natural Resources Law In India written by Philippe Cullet and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-12 with Law categories.

Environmental law is a broad discipline covering issues such as nature conservation, the prevention or abatement of pollution, and waste management. It also encompasses concerns related to natural resources, such as forests, minerals, and fisheries, and the balance between their use and conservation. India has been at the forefront of jurisprudential developments among countries with similar environmental, geographical, socio-economic, and cultural conditions. Concurrently, the country has been receptive to ideas and principles arising from other parts of the world or from international law. The growth of environmental and natural resources law in India has been sustained in equal measure by growing environmental awareness and the increasingly dire nature of the problems associated with the environment and natural resources, ranging from local issues to the global climate crisis. At the same time, the continuous push for development has not abated, leading to recurrent pressure to weaken existing standards for environmental protection and the management and use of natural resources. The Oxford Handbook of Environmental and Natural Resources Law in India offers the most comprehensive coverage of the diverse and complex discipline of environmental and natural resources law in India over the past fifty years. With forty-two contributions from law and non-law scholars, the Handbook presents diverse perspectives on several areas including biodiversity, climate change, water, forests, agriculture, health, resource extraction, and industrial development. By departing from the existing approach that examines natural resources law and environmental law separately, The Oxford Handbook of Environmental and Natural Resources Law in India offers a much-needed integrated analysis of the development of domestic jurisprudence vis-à-vis the environment and natural resources.

This is an open access book.Changes in law either from the meaning of normative substance, institutional, and legal culture are inevitably in line with the dynamics within various sectors of life society. Therefore, it is necessary to thoroughly discuss and analyze which sectors may have a significant impact on the business world and society today. By discussing comprehensively, comparatively and collaboratively, it is hoped that legal issues can be seen from various perspectives in the legal and social fields by finding fundamental problems in depth related to several topics of discussion, including in the telematics legal sector, natural resource management law, business legal culture, as well as the tourism sector. For this reason, APPTHI held a series of conferences in 3 cities to discuss and make it a meeting place for world law experts with law lecturers throughout Indonesia and invited lecturers from various countries, such as South Korea, India, Malaysia and Europe to take a part in this conference. The 1st APPTHI International Conference on Changing of Law (the series) is the first international conference series held in Indonesia by the Association of Indonesian Law College Leaders (APPTHI), inviting several legal experts from countries such as the USA, the Netherlands, Korea, Malaysia, India, as well as South Korea. This activity has 3 major themes each held in several cities, namely: in Jakarta which will be held at Trisakti University on 22 July 2023 with the theme Changing of Law in the digital era, while in Makassar it will take place at the Indonesian Muslim University/UMI) on July 24 2023 with the theme Changing of Law in the Energy sector and Natural Resources Management, as well as the last series of conferences in Bali on July 26 2023 at Warmadewa University, becoming a series of academic activities that have a broad spectrum and dimension of legal knowledge withvarious legal perspectives such as business law, corporate law, civil law, criminal law, intellectual property law, telematics law, agrarian law, environmental law, HTN/HAN etc. This event was carried out within the framework of the first round of the APPTHI international program which will continue to be held regularly every year. This program is also a form of implementation of various forms of international cooperation in several countries such as New York University, Utrecht University, National University of Malaysia, Hankuk University, and Jawaharlal Nehru University. In this event APPTHI collaborated with the international program organizer, PASQAPRO. For the activities of The First APPTHI International Conference on Changing Law, The Series, involving campuses as co-hosts in Jakarta (hosted by Trisakti University), including: Jakarta Islamic University, Universitas Suryakancana, cianjur, Lampung Mitra University, Palembang Law School STIHPADA, Islamic University Jakarta, Muhamadiyah University Jakarta, YARSI University, National University, Borobudur University, while co-hosted in Makassar (Host Indonesian Muslim University): Panca Bakti University, West Kalimantan, Sawerigading University, Christian University of Paulus, Makasar, Universitas Juanda, Bogor and Seventeen August University (UNTAG) Semarang, for Bali with the host university Warmadewa, assisted by co-hosts including: Caritas College of Law, Papua. Hopefully this conference will not only be a scientific forum for APPTHI members and various foreign partner universities by providing outputs in the form of indexed proceedings and journals, but also an event that will contribute thoughts in the field of law for the Indonesian government in conducting studies on legal changes positively as well as being a think tank for the formation of state laws and policies.

Before the late 1980s, when the ideas of sustainability and sustainable development to the forefront of public debate, conventional, neo-classical economic thinking about development and growth had rarely given any consideration to the needs of future generations, or the sustainability of natural resource use. Defining sustainability broadly as intergenerational fairness in the long-term decision making of a whole society, and using established economic concepts, this selection of refereed journal articles brings a famously ill-defined concept into sharp focus, providing academics at all levels with a formidable research tool. Spanning thirty years of the most important philosophical, theoretical and empirical contributions from both critics and defenders of neo-classical assumptions and methods of economic analysis, this focused collection of papers constitutes a unique, balanced resource on the full range of intellectual debates surrounding the economics of sustainability.
