La primera edición del Congreso Anual de Estudiantes de Doctorado con carácter Internacional de la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche ha sido un gran reto para el comité organizador del mismo, conformado por 11 estudiantes de doctorado que voluntariamente han prestado su tiempo para crear este lugar de encuentro entre doctorandos. Nos sentimos gratamente sorprendidos y orgullosos de la difusión que ha tenido el I CAED, además de la gran acogida por parte del estudiantado, puesto que se han registrado más de 1600 inscripciones, además de unas 800 contribuciones tanto en formato oral como póster. El comité organizador quiere expresar su agradecimiento al Vicerrectorado de Investigación de la Universidad Miguel Hernández, por brindarnos la oportunidad de organizar dicho evento, como a todos los participantes e inscritos del congreso. En especial, agradecer al Excelentísimo Señor Vicerrector de Investigación Domingo Orozco Beltrán, y a su Vicerrector adjunto Miguel Ángel Sogorb Sánchez, por su dedicación y atención durante toda la preparación del congreso, así como la libertad concedida para la planificación y ejecución del mismo. Los miembros del comité, también desean resaltar su gratitud a Julio Alberto Ramos Martínez, Guillermo Martínez de la Torre y David Úbeda, miembros del Servicio de Innovación y Planificación Tecnológica (SIPT), por la ayuda técnica prestada a este comité, antes, durante y después del evento, y que, sin ella, el mismo nunca se hubiese podido celebrar. El comité es consciente de que, al ser la primera edición, ha tenido que tomar decisiones y adoptar soluciones logísticas, que no han sido las más adecuadas, pero que sin duda serán mejoradas en las siguientes ediciones. También se quiere agradecer la paciencia que han tenido los asistentes al congreso esperando este libro de resúmenes que recopila todas las contribuciones presentadas. El comité organizador manifiesta que ha sido una experiencia muy enriquecedora en todos los sentidos, para los miembros de todo el equipo y resalta la positividad e importancia de la multidisciplinariedad que ha caracterizado a este congreso desde el principio. La organización de este congreso, desea y espera, que el CAED siga teniendo el mismo éxito que esta primera edición muchos años más y que los asistentes al mismo, disfruten de este evento tanto como lo ha hecho este comité para organizarlo. The global financial, economic and sovereign debt crisis since 2008 has led to increases in political disaffection among citizens, a loss of legitimacy of political institutions, the discredit of mainstream parties and the rise of extremist or anti-system political alternatives. This comparative volume sheds greater light on this critical juncture in the recent history of the European Union (EU) by focusing on the evolution of attitudes of national political elites. It examines whether the crisis has affected the legitimacy of the EU integration project as perceived by national political elites and, consequently, if the elite consensus that constituted one of the most solid fundamentals supporting that project has been eroded. Analysing these changes across the different dimensions in which support for the EU is organized and its relationship with the evolution of support towards European integration among citizens in member states, the book addresses a basic question: How have these events affected the perceptions of the EU of national political elites? Ultimately, it sheds light on the evolution of the relationship between the perception of the EU and the national contexts, as well as the likely evolution of the project of European integration in the near future. This book will be of key interest to scholars and students of political elites, EU politics, European integration, political parties, and more broadly to comparative politics, European studies and sociology.
