En este texto planteamos una propuesta didáctica basada en el aprendizaje cooperativo y en la enseñanza mediacional que contribuye a desarrollar lacomprensión lectora y con ella la adquisición de aprendizajes de distintas áreas curriculares, para los alumnos con dificultades de comprensión lectora. El primer capítulo que se plantea en el texto hace referencia a la comprensión lectora. El segundo capítulo se destina al análisis textual y a la lectura fácil. En el capítulo tercero se presentan las dificultades de comprensión lectora que se observan en las personas con discapacidad intelectual. El modelo didáctico mediacional se expone en el cuarto capítulo. A partir de este modelo se diseña un programa para la mejora de la comprensión lectora, que se expone en el capítulo quinto. El capítulo sexto se destina precisamente a analizar la organización y funcionamiento de los clubes de lectura fácil. Finalmente, se exponen algunas conclusiones que se derivan de la experiencia desarrollada.
