Addict Out of the Dark and into the Light I wanted to get the message out that any addict could get clean; stop using drugs and find a new way to live. Most every one was enthusiastic. I asked them to share about the horrors of their life and how wonderful their lives are today. In the spirit of recovery each contributor exemplified this selfless effort of helping other addicts find and achieve recovery. Each participant responded because they wanted to help and be a part of the solution rather than the problem. They understood that what they were doing would help alleviate the pain and suffering of addicts and those close to addicts by being exposed to this work. My motive was to bring to light the love and truth about the feelings of addicts and the recovery revolution that is going on right now. Christopher Keeley Keeleys photographs, which deal with the many facets of obsession, speak to the internal search many individuals undergo during the lifelong quest for meaning and self-awareness. Capturing pain, longing, torment, despair, hope, and love within the faces and forms of his images, Keeley draws on his own inner obsessive quest for knowledge as inspiration. His images are unsympathetic, and communicate the inner emotional trauma of the homeless, the addicted, and of the lonely, as well as pride and the strength of human bonding experienced by addicts in recovery. By revealing the essence of his subjects, the works magnify with often unsettling clarity the pain of discovery, joy of friendships born of pain, or turmoil of new journeys that resound within each person. Through these poignant images he challenges the viewer to look within ones own heart, to question, affirm, accept, or reject, leaving one with valuable insights into our own places in humanity. Kimberley Taylor Chris Keeley is a friend of mine. I have always looked to Chris as having the inclination and courage to capture his unique perception of reality with the shutter of his camera. Somehow, he goes ahead and does it. In 1987 when this work of art was started, I heard of this book from the years it took Chris to put it together. In my own experience, I had an interest in encouraging and helping bring to light the love and truth about the feelings of addicts and the recovery revolution that is going on right now. There is a genuine movement in the underground culture of drug addiction towards health, recovery and spiritual growth. Chris went to each person participating in this work and asked if they would help. Each one responded because they wanted to help. Initially, the photos in this book were to be exclusively nudes for the shock value and to set the reader in the intimate, touching frame of mind required to reach with the heart as well as the mind. Some of the participants balked at this and so allowances were made and Chris decided that even the form of having all subjects nude would just be another conformity. There is no final answer to addiction. With time a human being learns how much of life is real and how much is supposition. Personal truth at the level of daily living is the way out of this labyrinth. A snapshot can contain unintended truth. This book is a collection of photographic snapshots, along with written snapshots are in the form of verbatim transcripts. The participants were taped at the same time the photos were taken. The resulting composition is a picture at odds with prevailing perspectives on addiction and towards addicts. The darkness is the overlay of myth, fear and superstition that surround addicts and their disease. Addiction is the disease of lies hiding in darkness that allows the simple elements of need, deprivation and extremism to build and combine into seemingly insolvable obstacles. The truth is much simpler. The dark is a place of fear in much of the world. It symbolizes the u"

Bishop Grant Cole began with a bright future as a straight-A student in a good family. But within a year after graduating high school, he found himself married with a child and, as a major player in three different drug rings operating in and around Atlanta, serving five seven-year prison sentences. Cole's life story is filled with wrong choices, deliverance from demons, and miraculous interventions. In Into the Darkness, Out Into the Light, he reveals it all-six different prisons; his attempts at recovery through various drug programs, psychology, Scientology, and every self-help book he can find; and, ultimately, his salvation after winding up on his knees in a jail cell while facing a life sentence. As a cautionary tale, he also shares the dark story of his best friend from high school. Throughout his narrative, which takes him from the big house to the White House, Bishop Cole offers guidance for parents and loved ones of addicts by sharing warning signs and explanations of an addict's mindset so they can better understand what they are dealing with. And for addicts, this amazing story offers the most important thing of all: hope.

My intentions of this novel is to break into the unconsciousness and take those contextual thoughts and turn them inside out into alternate dimensional universes that will lead the spirit of the mind into quantum experiences never seen or felt before by the third eye. In short, it's a metaphysical trip designed to blow the mind.

Addiction is a beast. It's a lifestyle that is rarely understood except by those who have experienced the darkest throes of its hopeless destruction. "Dark to Light" is dedicated to readers and their loved ones whose lives are or have been touched in any way by alcohol and drug addiction. This book is not written by any psychologist, doctors or sponsored by a rehab facility or a recovery program. It is written by a guy who started drinking at the age of 12. Over the next 43 years of his alcohol and drug addiction, he experienced multiple hospital stays, clinical depression, mental breakdowns, attempted suicides, rehabs, recovery programs, divorces and earned fortunes only to squander them away. Meet Dean Ingram: "This book is about the darkest time of my life. A complete and total breakdown of my mind, my body, my emotions, my heart and everything I held dear. Taking my own life at that time seemed to me a good idea! This is the earmark of a terribly broken brain." "Dark to Light" captures an intimate, deeply personal battle with alcohol and cocaine addiction which led the author to a profoundly creative avenue to document his emotionally charged turbulence - through poignant poetry and verse. Dean reveals the gritty barefaced truth of addiction, his courageous climb out of the rabbit hole of drugs and alcohol and his hard fought transformation to the man he is today. With raw honesty, Dean offers realistic hope to those desperately struggling for a life of recovery, sobriety, strength and freedom from the beast.

This book is a provocative and transparent glimpse into my sinful dark human nature without God. It covers the desolation as I walked into the mouth of hell and the agony of living in the belly of evil. It illuminates the pathway I traveled as God led me “Out of the Darkness” and into the light. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Ezek 36:26-27 It has taken courage to expose the shadowy darkness of my soul; to permit others to see me for who, and what I am, and to remove all the masks, and become susceptible to scrutiny. If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:17 This book was written to glorify God, and to give Him all the honor, and praise for delivering me from a seemingly hopeless state of mind, and body, and spirit. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:20–21

Fleetwood Mac was a triumph from the beginning—their first album was the UK's bestselling album of 1968. After some low points—when founder Peter Green left, some fans felt that the band continuing was sacrilege—Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined, and the band's 1977 album Rumours became one of history's immortals, a true classic that remained in the charts for years and public affection forever. In the press, the ethereal Californian Stevie Nicks, the tormented rocker Lindsey Buckingham, the dignified English rose Christine McVie, the blunt-speaking John McVie, and the loquacious Mick Fleetwood have all regularly been astoundingly candid. This collection of interviews across the entirety of Fleetwood Mac's career features articles from such celebrated publications as Crawdaddy, New Musical Express, Circus, Creem, Mojo, Goldmine, Classic Rock, Blender, and Elle, as well as interviews that have never previously appeared in print. In it, readers will learn the Fleetwood Mac story from the band members' own mouths, and experience it contemporaneously rather than through hindsight.

This is the first-ever complete, illustrated history of Fleetwood Mac, the legendary band that has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Required reading for fans. From this British-American band's blues origins in the 1960s to its pop superstardom in the 1970s and 1980s to its 2015 reunion, Fleetwood Mac has endeared itself to audiences worldwide. Fleetwood Mac: The Complete Illustrated Historycovers the band's illustrious career, highlighting details that will surprise even the most loyal fans. With a career that began fifty years ago and yielded seventeen studio albums, Fleetwood Mac has had a rollercoaster career, detailed here through a carefully researched text and myriad photographs and memorabilia, including some rare and little-seen items. The band's most popular lineup includes drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie, keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie, guitarist and vocalist Lindsey Buckingham, and singer Stevie Nicks, but its members have shifted over the years since Fleetwood Mac began in 1967. And although the band's superstar phase in the 1970s is most familiar to the public, Fleetwood Mac's roots were in the blues, and the band evolved in fits and starts before finding popular success. Fleetwood Mac: The Complete Illustrated History documents their entire story, including the troubled circumstances that led to the 1970 withdrawal of the band's original guitarist, Peter Green, as well as the broken marriage of John and Christine McVie and the romantic breakup of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham that threatened to split the group even as they were recording one of the biggest albums of all time, Rumours. This is the whole story of one of rock and roll's greatest bands.

Mothers of addicted and alcoholic children share a deep connection—one that is rarely understood by anyone who hasn’t experienced a similar path. Sharing our perspectives helps us all grow stronger, together. “We all need to take a closer look at the things we’ve avoided—the things lurking around in this place where love and addiction meet—so we’re as strong as we can be.” —Sandra Swenson, author of Tending Dandelions In the shadows of our child’s struggles with addiction, we find ourselves tending to a life for which we weren’t prepared. These meditations continue the tradition of Hazelden’s beloved meditation books by providing moments of recognition, confession, and healing for those who are realizing that recovery rarely follows a neat or comfortable path. Along the way, we plant beautiful roses only to be injured by their thorns, and we pull up unwanted dandelions that, at times, are our only source of wishes. By sharing the realities we never expected our families to face, mothers of addicted children support each other through experiences that can only be feared and imagined by others. From our shared struggles emerge opportunities for personal growth. Tending Dandelions is a vital source of wisdom, support, and strength that helps us begin our own journey of recovery.
