Das alt überlieferte Sprichwort Adel verpflichtet bedeutet in seinem ureigensten Sinn, dass eine herausragende soziale Position immer auch besondere Verpflichtungen mit sich führt, die sich vor allem auf soziale Verhaltensweisen und die positiv besetzte Erfüllung einer Führungsrolle beziehen. In diesem Sprichwort wird von jeher die Aussage transportiert, dass jemand, der durch Herkunft, Geld, Position oder Talent privilegiert ist, auch die Pflicht hat, etwas Gutes damit zu tun und sich demnach zu verhalten. Dieses hier vorgelegte Buch mit dem gleichnamigen Titel Adel verpflichtet ist das Ergebnis einer Studie, die sich intensiv mit dem Juristen adeliger Herkunft, Franz Viktor Freiherr Baselli von Süßenberg beschäftigt, der in den Jahren von 1933 bis 1945 nacheinander als Bürgermeister in die Städte Pinneberg, Schleswig und Cottbus berufen worden war. Als oberster Chef der Verwaltung in diesen drei Städten und als Gauamtsleiter für Kommunalpolitik trug er in einem sehr hohen Maße dazu bei, dass die vielfach menschenunwürdigen nationalsozialistischen Verwaltungsgrundsätze genauestens umgesetzt wurden. Von Baselli ist damit durch sein Wirken in die Gruppe der von der politischen Philosophin Hannah Arendt mit dem Begriff Schreibtischtäter treffend bezeichneten NS-Verbrecher einzugruppieren. Die Studie zeichnet nach intensivem Studium relevanter Quellen das Bild eines kulturell gebildeten Juristen und Familienvaters nach, der als Bürgermeister und als Nationalsozialist vielfach zum Täter wurde.

Eurogames have simple rules and short playing times and emphasize strategy over luck and conflict.
