This book brings together past experience, current work and promising future trends associated with distributed computing, artificial intelligence and their application in order to provide efficient solutions to real problems. DCAI 2020 is a forum to present applications of innovative techniques for studying and solving complex problems in artificial intelligence and computing areas. This year’s technical program will present both high quality and diversity, with contributions in well-established and evolving areas of research. Specifically, 83 papers were submitted to main track and special sessions, by authors from 26 different countries representing a truly “wide area network” of research activity. The DCAI’20 technical program has selected 35 papers and, as in past editions, it will be special issues in ranked journals. This symposium is organized by the University of L'Aquila (Italy). We would like to thank all the contributing authors, the members of the Program Committee and the sponsors (IBM, Armundia Group, EurAI, AEPIA, APPIA, CINI, OIT, UGR, HU, SCU, USAL, AIR Institute and UNIVAQ).

Interaction Between Automated Vehicles And Other Road Users written by Philipp Wintersberger and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-09-10 with Science categories.
An increasing number of automated vehicles will pervade our traffic systems in the future. The absence of a human driver requires these vehicles to communicate to, and interact with other traffic participants, such as vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists, and emerging mobility forms like eBikes or scooters), but potentially also drivers of manual vehicles. In this regard, various studies and concepts demonstrating so-called “external Human-Machine Interfaces” (eHMIs) have been presented in the past couple of years. Many of these works have investigated comparably simple scenarios, such as a single pedestrian aiming to cross the street when an automated vehicle is approaching. Although we still welcome such contributions, research in this area will have to take more complex situations into account. This drives the need for research addressing other situations involving groups of vulnerable road users and traffic participants, different scenarios including roundabouts or urban shared spaces, but also exploring the potential of communication and interaction beyond such classical situations to improve cooperation in traffic.

User Experience Design In The Era Of Automated Driving written by Andreas Riener and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book is dedicated to user experience design for automated driving to address humane aspects of automated driving, e.g., workload, safety, trust, ethics, and acceptance. Automated driving has experienced a major development boost in recent years. However, most of the research and implementation has been technology-driven, rather than human-centered. The levels of automated driving have been poorly defined and inconsistently used. A variety of application scenarios and restrictions has been ambiguous. Also, it deals with human factors, design practices and methods, as well as applications, such as multimodal infotainment, virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactions in and outside users. This book aims at 1) providing engineers, designers, and practitioners with a broad overview of the state-of-the-art user experience research in automated driving to speed-up the implementation of automated vehicles and 2) helping researchers and students benefit from various perspectives and approaches to generate new research ideas and conduct more integrated research.

Explainable AI for Autonomous Vehicles: Concepts, Challenges, and Applications is a comprehensive guide to developing and applying explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) in the context of autonomous vehicles. It begins with an introduction to XAI and its importance in developing autonomous vehicles. It also provides an overview of the challenges and limitations of traditional black-box AI models and how XAI can help address these challenges by providing transparency and interpretability in the decision-making process of autonomous vehicles. The book then covers the state-of-the-art techniques and methods for XAI in autonomous vehicles, including model-agnostic approaches, post-hoc explanations, and local and global interpretability techniques. It also discusses the challenges and applications of XAI in autonomous vehicles, such as enhancing safety and reliability, improving user trust and acceptance, and enhancing overall system performance. Ethical and social considerations are also addressed in the book, such as the impact of XAI on user privacy and autonomy and the potential for bias and discrimination in XAI-based systems. Furthermore, the book provides insights into future directions and emerging trends in XAI for autonomous vehicles, such as integrating XAI with other advanced technologies like machine learning and blockchain and the potential for XAI to enable new applications and services in the autonomous vehicle industry. Overall, the book aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of XAI and its applications in autonomous vehicles to help readers develop effective XAI solutions that can enhance autonomous vehicle systems' safety, reliability, and performance while improving user trust and acceptance. This book: Discusses authentication mechanisms for camera access, encryption protocols for data protection, and access control measures for camera systems. Showcases challenges such as integration with existing systems, privacy, and security concerns while implementing explainable artificial intelligence in autonomous vehicles.
