The intention of this book is to give an overview of Alfred Adler's fundamental ideas tracing the development of his theory of psychotherapy during the years between 1912 and 1937: the compensation of inferiority feeling and the founding of the concept of community feeling in emotional experience, in body and mind and in the philosophy of life. Adler doesn't adopt an objectifying external perspective; he doesn't see the overall context from outside from a reflective distance, but rather looks from his experience of human society onto the contingency of human life. All of his theoretical concepts are bound up in this holistic approach. Adler's theoretic development shows that the basic concepts of Individual Psychology are not only descriptive labels; they grow out of inner experience. Adler expresses harsh criticism of all forms of community governed by the "will to power" and pleads for a cooperation in terms of real social interest or community feeling. This E-Book is a revised edition of the introduction to the third volume of the Alfred Adler study edition published in 2010. A new chapter has been added: »The relational dimension of Individual Psychology«. The step-by-step development of Alfred Adler's thinking is described following lectures and papers collected in the study edition. The quotations are taken from the original versions of Adler's papers.

Unlock the mysteries surrounding one of the nineteenth century's most brilliant minds in author Marv Friedlander's debut, Felix Speaks: Adler's Ethical Culture. Felix Adler, founder of the Ethical Culture movement, dedicated his life to espousing the idea that every person possesses an intrinsic worth that needs nurturing. His emphasis on ethics, or the development of "right relationships," moved a whole generation of humanists who sought to live out such a philosophy. Now, those involved in ethical or humanist societies, as well as those who simply have an interest in learning more about humanism as a whole, can study Adler's ideas in a language that is more accessible than ever. Beginning with a brief biography of the man behind the movement, Friedlander then introduces a series of short articles and essays based on the essential ideas of Adler's philosophy. Imagined conversations between Adler and his wife, or Adler and a fellow member of the Ethical Society, enliven the philosophic ideas in a way that make them easier to comprehend-and provide an ideal launching pad from which to generate conversation among those who seek to make a difference.

In Freud S Shadow written by Paul E. Stepansky and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-15 with Psychology categories.

In its detailed, interpretive reconsideration of Adler's involvement with Freud and psychoanalysis, In Freud's Shadow constitutes a seminal contribution to our historical understanding of the early psychoanalytic movement. Making extensive use of the Minutes of the Vienna Psycho-Analytic Society, Freud's correspondence, and the diaries of Lou Andreas-Salome, Stepansky reconstructs the ambience and reanalyzes the substance of the ongoing debates about Adler's work within the psychoanalytic discussion group. One valuable by-product of his undertaking, then, is a compelling portrait of the early Vienna Psycho-Analytic Society from the standpoint of the sociology of small groups and, more especially, of Freud's status as the "group leader" of the Society. Thoroughly researched, meticulously documented, and brilliantly written, In Freud's Shadow: Adler in Context represents a watershed in the literature on Adler, Frued, and the history of psychoanalysis. It will be of major interest not only to psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, and psychologists, but to social scientists, historians, and lay readers interested in the politics of scientific controversy, the sociology of small groups, and the relationship of psychology to contemporary systems of belief.

Kierkegaard was driven to write The Book on Adler after news spread that a Danish pastor, Adolph P. Adler, claimed to have experienced a revelation in which Christ dictated a new doctrine. Like many others, Kierkegaard was intrigued by Adler--but for different reasons than most. Over the eight years during which Kierkegaard worked on the manuscript, the phenomenon of Adler became a concern secondary to the larger question of authority. Kierkegaard revised the manuscript many times, and published a segment of it as "The Difference between a Genius and an Apostle" in Two Ethical-Religious Essays, but did not publish the work as a whole before his death. The latest integral version of The Book on Adler is included here, along with excerpts from the earlier drafts and a sampling of writing by Adler himself.
