This comprehensive treatment of network information theory and its applications provides the first unified coverage of both classical and recent results. With an approach that balances the introduction of new models and new coding techniques, readers are guided through Shannon's point-to-point information theory, single-hop networks, multihop networks, and extensions to distributed computing, secrecy, wireless communication, and networking. Elementary mathematical tools and techniques are used throughout, requiring only basic knowledge of probability, whilst unified proofs of coding theorems are based on a few simple lemmas, making the text accessible to newcomers. Key topics covered include successive cancellation and superposition coding, MIMO wireless communication, network coding, and cooperative relaying. Also covered are feedback and interactive communication, capacity approximations and scaling laws, and asynchronous and random access channels. This book is ideal for use in the classroom, for self-study, and as a reference for researchers and engineers in industry and academia.

This book is an evolution from my book A First Course in Information Theory published in 2002 when network coding was still at its infancy. The last few years have witnessed the rapid development of network coding into a research ?eld of its own in information science. With its root in infor- tion theory, network coding has not only brought about a paradigm shift in network communications at large, but also had signi?cant in?uence on such speci?c research ?elds as coding theory, networking, switching, wireless c- munications, distributeddatastorage, cryptography, andoptimizationtheory. While new applications of network coding keep emerging, the fundamental - sults that lay the foundation of the subject are more or less mature. One of the main goals of this book therefore is to present these results in a unifying and coherent manner. While the previous book focused only on information theory for discrete random variables, the current book contains two new chapters on information theory for continuous random variables, namely the chapter on di?erential entropy and the chapter on continuous-valued channels. With these topics included, the book becomes more comprehensive and is more suitable to be used as a textbook for a course in an electrical engineering department.

In these papers associated with the workshop of December 2003, contributors describe their work in fountain codes for lossless data compression, an application of coding theory to universal lossless source coding performance bounds, expander graphs and codes, multilevel expander codes, low parity check lattices, sparse factor graph representations of Reed-Solomon and related codes. Interpolation multiplicity assignment algorithms for algebraic soft- decision decoding of Reed-Solomon codes, the capacity of two- dimensional weight-constrained memories, networks of two-way channels, and a new approach to the design of digital communication systems. Advances In Visual Data Compression And Communication written by Feng Wu and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-25 with Computers categories.

This book provides a theoretical and technical basis for advanced research on visual data compression and communication. It presents the results of the author's research on visual data compression and transmission. Studying scalable video coding (SVC), it considers the fundamental problem to be solved in SVC-motion compensation. It explores directional transforms, extends the current coding framework by visual synthesis and reconstruction, and explains how to apply compressive sensing to solve the compression problems in transmission. It also develops the pseudo-analog transmission for image and video.

This book provides a broad understanding of the fundamental tools and methods from information theory and mathematical programming, as well as specific applications in 6G and beyond system designs. The contents focus on not only both theories but also their intersection in 6G. Motivations are from the multitude of new developments which will arise once 6G systems integrate new communication networks with AIoT (Artificial Intelligence plus Internet of Things). Design issues such as the intermittent connectivity, low latency, federated learning, IoT security, etc., are covered. This monograph provides a thorough picture of new results from information and optimization theories, as well as how their dialogues work to solve aforementioned 6G design issues.

Data Depth written by Regina Y. Liu and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Mathematics categories.

The book is a collection of some of the research presented at the workshop of the same name held in May 2003 at Rutgers University. The workshop brought together researchers from two different communities: statisticians and specialists in computational geometry. The main idea unifying these two research areas turned out to be the notion of data depth, which is an important notion both in statistics and in the study of efficiency of algorithms used in computational geometry. Many of the articles in the book lay down the foundations for further collaboration and interdisciplinary research. Information for our distributors: Co-published with the Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science beginning with Volume 8. Volumes 1-7 were co-published with the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM).
