"Adventism and the American Republic tells how their convictions led Adventist adherents to become champions of religious liberty and the separation of church and state - all in the interest of delaying the fulfillment of a prophecy that foresees the abolition of most freedoms. Through publication of Liberty magazine, lobbying of legislatures, and pressing court cases, Adventists have been libertarian activists for more than a century, and in recent times this stance has translated into strong resistance to the political agendas of Christian conservatives." "Drawing on Adventist writings that have never been incorporated into a scholarly study, Morgan shows how the movement has struggled successfully to maintain its identifying beliefs - with some modifications - and how their sectarian exclusiveness and support of liberty has led to some tensions and inconsistencies."--BOOK JACKET.

My book's objective is to describe the beliefs, practices, and ventures of the Adventist church that have had or still have a significant impact on my life. Looking back, I now have a better understanding why ancient Israel was repeatedly told to remember what God had done for them. For this reason, there will be much reminiscing, retelling of personal experiences, and evaluating church teachings and decisions, all in the endeavor to make sense of what has happened. That can only take place if we bathe our words and expressions in grace, love and understanding. The book endeavors to answer the underlying question: what do we mean when we use the term "church"? What are the primary reasons for its existence? When you ask Adventists such a question, we hope they answer with a reply that is inspiring and practical. In presenting my view of Adventism over the past seventy-five years, it's had a positive effect on my knowing and understanding Jesus-and I hope the same goes for you!

Covering the Millerite movement of the 1830s and 1840s, sabbatarian Adventism prior to organization of the denomination, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church since its organization in 1861-63, this volume provides a comprehensive history of the denomination. The first major element of the book is a chronology of Adventist history that begins with William Miller's conclusion in 1818 that the Second Advent of Jesus would occur about 1843 and extends through the Science and Theology Conferences of 2002-04. The interpretive introduction that follows places the emergence of Adventism within the context of the Second Great Awakening, describes the development of sabbatarian Adventism from its early opposition to church organization to its highly institutionalized and bureaucratically structured contemporary form, and examines the denomination's geographical expansion from a small North American sect to a global church. The dictionary entries that constitute the bulk of the volume address individuals, organizations, institutions, and doctrines that have been important in the history of the church, including dissident movements and individuals who have emerged as critics of the denomination and its beliefs. Second, there are entries on the development and current situation of Adventism in many individual countries. Finally, thematic entries on such subjects as art, music, literature, health care, and women address other elements important to understanding church life. The dictionary entries are followed by a bibliography of scholarly and popular works published by the denomination, commercial and academic presses, and individuals and organizations.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church was founded upon an apocalyptic message that needed to be preached to the entire worldimmediately and at any cost. But does the church today preach that same message with the same urgency? Has the Adventist Church become irrelevant because it has sought to be more relevant to the world? Knight challenges us to go back to our roots, to examine the prophecies that fueled the early Seventh-day Adventists' determination to evangelize the world.

In 2016, I was a part of a cult. At the time I didn't think it was a cult. I was told it was another Seventh-day Adventist church. After five years of attending and watching conspiracy theories, drama, intrigue being preached at the pulpit, I knew that something needed to be said. I wrote "Disrupting Adventism," but much was left out. This is the personal story behind that book. The Countryside Offshoot is the story of worship gone wrong. Of a self-proclaimed pastor's unchecked power. Of the idea that Jesuits control everything in the world. As I watched the health of family members plummet and anger grow, I knew that something was wrong with their religious experience. I just didn't know how to say it. When I wrote Disrupting Adventism, I was thrilled to see how well it was received by those in the Seventh-day Adventist church. I also was happy to see that many people were seeing how the extremism in various offshoots and Independent self-supporting ministries is detrimental. I wanted to change lives. That's why I wrote this book as a sequel. It's time to change more lives! This book explores the writings of "Bill Hughes," author of The Secret Terrorists, The Enemy Unmasked, and Three Angel's Over Africa. It tells why Jesuit conspiracy theories are not what God has in mind for a Sabbath service. It tells how talk of chemtrails and FEMA camps caused members to become depressed, sick, and lose the joy of the Lord. I believe that I was brought through this experience for a reason. These books were meant to be written! If you are wondering: "Why is there so much extremism in the Seventh-day Adventist church" or "why are there so many Seventh-day Adventist offshoots?" then this book is for you!
