Words Of Hope And Healing written by Children's Advocacy Centers of Georgia and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-30 with Self-Help categories.

Directors in the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia state network of CACs have collaborated on a book certain to provide words of future hope and healing for the courageous children who have been victims of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Indeed, anyone who has experienced a traumatic event, or have been the loved one of such a person, will find value and meaning to the thoughts and messages inside this book. Our mission is to be, now and always, for the children. ___________________ “People who work at Children’s Advocacy Centers go to work not just for a job, but in commitment to an important cause. Ultimately, their response and involvement with a child who has alleged child abuse and the child’s family, while significant, is relatively brief considering the future lifetime of a child. However, this can be a critical pivot point for everyone involved. With this book, the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia, through the amazing words of the Executive Directors of Georgia’s CACs, seek to expand their positive influence beyond the immediate needs of child survivors of abuse and their families. The words in this book are parting gifts for the children and families who are served in Children’s Advocacy Centers, for them to read and contemplate, and then re-read, in their own individual journeys toward health and healing” (Chris Newlin, MS LPC, executive director, National Children’s Advocacy Center, Huntsville, Alabama).

This book is intended to give practical advice to anyone embarking upon a career involving advocacy or public speaking. Its authors are Derek Halbert and Hayley Whitaker from the University of Chester Law School. Derek spent 24 years as a member of the bar in chambers in Chester and then more than 20 years as a Circuit Judge until his retirement in September 2015. In October 2015 he was appointed an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Law and it is estimated that during his 44 years as a member of the legal profession, he made or listened to approximately 56,000 speeches. Hayley is also a member of the bar of England and Wales and a Lecturer in Law. She is the tutor with responsibility for Advocacy and Public Speaking and so has considerable expertise in the needs of students in this area. The combined experience of the authors forms the basis of this book and they cover topics such as: twelve rules for speaking in public, how to prepare a speech, how to prepare a case for court, how to research and present a legal argument, examination in chief, cross-examination, ethics and professional conduct and alternative dispute resolution. The result is a book which is, in the words of The Rt Hon. The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales: 'an indispensable companion to any student aspiring to the highest standards of advocacy.'
