The influence of indigenous people upon the Roman economy and spread of their Empire in North Africa has been underestimated in many sources that were written in the colonial period. This thesis aims to join the dialogue of the growing secondary bibliography on Roman North Africa which focuses more on the agency of the natives than on the colonizers. The significant effect and contribution of these indigenous people is exhibited through analyzing the interaction between them and the Romans in select and pivotal instances throughout the period from 218 B.C.-44 A.D.
