This Book was written in both English and French by Uchenna Kennedy Nwakamma.L'histoire complète se déroule dans un pays imaginaire, la République fédérale d'Obowo, située en Afrique centrale. ==> The complete story takes place in an imaginary country, the Federal Republic of Obowo, located in Central Africa. Witness to the post-independence suffering of the African people and the military coups against neocolonialism, the author highlights the fact that the independence granted by the former colonial powers was a feint cleverly organized to allow them to continue their domination by other means (neocolonialism) with the complicity of some African leaders. Nwakamma Uchenna Kennedy also highlighted the fact that despite neocolonialist activities in Africa, the main cause of problems on the continent (poverty, insecurity, famine, etc.) is simply the selfish spirit of African leaders. The importance of women in the development of African society has also been illustrated in this work. This novel entitled 'Les États-Unis D'Afrique' takes place around a presidential election. It tells the story of a young politician who wanted to improve the post-independence living conditions of his compatriots by fighting corruption and neocolonialism in the Federal Republic of Obowo, but he was confronted with corrupt politicians in his country who were massively supported by ex-colonisers who wanted to maintain their domination by continuing to exploit the resources of Obowo's soil by means unknown to the public. The importance of women in the development of African society and the benefits of military coups were also illustrated in this novel.

Tracing the reciprocal relationship between Africa and North America from the seventeenth-century slave trade onwards, two leading authorities in the field provide a major revision to traditional colonial African history as well as to US history. Departing from prior accounts that tended to emphasise only the role of the colonial metropoles in developing Africa, the authors show how American pioneers - missionaries, traders, prospectors, miners, engineers, scientists, and others - have helped to shape Africa. They also point to the equally important impact made by Africa on the United States through trade and immigration, and through the influence of Africans on the arts and agriculture, among other facets of American life. In a study of exceptionally broad scope, the authors devote particular attention to the development of United States policy regarding Africa, the impact of private enterprise, the operation of governmental lobbies, the administration of foreign aid, and the involvement of Africa in the Cold War.

The dark years of European fascism left their indelible mark on Africa. As late as the 1970s, Angola was still ruled by white autocrats, whose dictatorship was eventually overthrown by black nationalists who had never experienced either the rule of law or participatory democracy. Empire in Africa takes the long view of history and asks whether the colonizing ventures of the Portuguese can bear comparison with those of the Mediterranean Ottomans or those experienced by Angola’s neighbors in the Belgian Congo, French Equatorial Africa, or the Dutch colonies at the Cape of Good Hope and in the Transvaal. David Birmingham takes the reader through Angola’s troubled past, which included endemic warfare for the first twenty-five years of independence, and examines the fact that in the absence of a viable neocolonial referee such as Britain or France, the warring parties turned to Cold War superpowers for a supply of guns. For a decade Angola replaced Vietnam as a field in which an international war by proxy was conducted. Empire in Africa explains how this African nation went from colony to independence, how in the 1990s the Cold War legacy turned to civil war, and how peace finally dawned in 2002.
