Buku Penyuluhan Agama di Era Digital yang merupakan karya mahasiswa Bimbingan Konseling Islam Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi UIN Bandung, adalah tugas akhir sekaligus ujian akhir semester. Buku ini merupakan jerih payah para mahasiswa yang mencoba menjaga semangat belajar di tengah keterbatasan tatap muka selama perkuliahan berlangsung. Hadirnya buku ini membuktikan bahwa disetiap kesulitan atau tantangan selalu tersedia kemudahan atau jalan keluar. Seperti kita sadari bersama, ada dua isu yang menjadi fokus menarik kaitannya dengan perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi ketika pandemic covid-19 mengemuka sejak tahun 2020 lalu. Pertama pandemi telah mengubah beberapa kebiasaan yang telah menjadi rutinitas masyarakat termasuk birokrasi (Taufik, & Warsono, 2020; Ghofur, & Subahri, 2020; Atsani, 2020). Kedua, hadirnya internet sebagai media baru, juga telah membentuk budaya baru dalam kehidupan sosial, termasuk dalam kegiatan keagamaan (Fakhruroji, 2017; Rubawati, 2018); Rustandi, 2019; Pratyaksa & Putri, 2020). Dawson (2004) menemukan bahwa dalam konteks media sebagai lingkungan dan sumber informasi ini terutama kaitannya dengan keagamaan, ada 25 % pengguna internet menggunakan media ini sebagai sumber informasi agama. Menurut Dawson (2004) ada dua pola aktivitas keagamaan yang dapat diakses di internet. Pertama, religion-online. Aktivitas ini berupa pemberian layanan informasi, ketentuan serta layanan keagamaan lainnya yang tersedia dalam situs keagamaan. Kedua, online-religion. Aktivitas ini berupa layanan keagamaan secara online, baik berupa konsultasi, penyuluhan atau juga pengajian yang dapat dilakukan melalui live streaming. Dilihat dari sisi aktivitas penyuluhan agama, internet dapat menjadi solusi.Penyuluhan atau bimbingan ini dalam konteks hari ini dengan hadirnya internet tentu dapat dilakukan melalui media baru tersebut. Internet memungkinkan sebuah komunikasi dapat dilakukan secara sinkronus. Pola ini seperti sudah dapat dilihat terutama dalam kegiatan pembelajaran online hari ini akibat pandemi (Omar & Mansor, 2019).

Societal and cultural influence on digital technology and vice versa has been looked within the arena of digital and religious studies. Though digital religion study is an upcoming area, it is a unique research area with unfolding of extraordinary results.

Tak dapat dipungkiri bahwa saat ini kita seakan tidak berdaya atas hegemoni media online. Bahkan diakui atau tidak, perkembangan teknologi telah mempengaruhi berabagai aspek kehidupan kita, termasuk dalam hal kebutuhan atas informasi keagamaan. Namun perkembangan revolusi digital ini, tidak diimbangi dengan kemampuan sebagai (besar) masyarakat dalam memahami dan mengolah informasi secara baik, cerdas dan benar. Akibatnya, hoax dengan mudah menyebar, beranak pinak dan dikonsumsi mentah-mentah oleh saudarasaudara kita. Oleh sebab itulah lahir fenomena post-truth dimana kebenaran tak lagi diukur oleh rasionalitas-ilmiah dan kondisi faktual, namun kebenaran hanya ditimbang dari neraca emosional, perasaan dan kesamaan kepentingan. Saat ini, beragama menjadi semacam formalitas, dan ritual keagamaan menjadi artifisial. Menghadapi keragaman beragama di ruang digital dibutuhkan sikap toleransi, yakni upaya menghargai dan menghormati perbedaan, memberikan kasih, berbagi kebaikan dan memuliakan orang lain tanpa melihat perbedaan suku, ras, agama, dan antar-golongan. Dengan toleransi dapat membangun perdamaian, menjaga persatuan, kesetaraan dan kemajemukan atas dasar semangat kemanusiaan dan ketuahanan. Atas dasar semangat inilah, buku karya Dr.H.Achmad Muhibin Zuhri, M. Ag ini lahir.
