Tree based production systems abound especially in the tropics. Despite the pervasiveness of such multipurpose “trees-outside-forest” resources, they have not attracted adequate attention in the development paradigms of many nation states. These multispecies production systems impact the ecosystem processes favourably. Yet, our understanding of the diversity attributes and carbon dynamics under agroforestry is not adequate. This book focuses on the role of multispecies production systems involving tree and crop species as a means for carbon sequestration and thereby reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. Sixteen chapters organized into three broad sections titled: Measurement and Estimation, Agrobiodiversity and Tree Management, and Policy and Socioeconomic Aspects represent a cross section of the opportunities and challenges in current research and emerging issues in harnessing carbon sequestration potential of agroforestry systems.

Climate Smart Agriculture For Future Food Security written by Sajid Faiz and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-06-17 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This contributed volume covers recent advancements in the development of climate-resilient agriculturally important crops by focusing on climate change, crop cultivation, crop breeding, and the application of novel biotechnological approaches in line with attaining second Sustainable Development Goal of zero hunger. Climate-smart agriculture is a concept aimed at transforming and reorienting agricultural production systems to ensure food security in the ever-evolving situation of climate change. Widespread alterations in rainfall and temperature patterns have threatened agricultural production and elevated the vulnerability of human dependency on agriculture for food, feed, and fiber. Additionally, global food demand is estimated to increase to feed the estimated global population of 9.7 billion by the year 2050. Climate change, food, and nutritional insecurity pose the greatest challenges for the farming community, researchers, the private sector, civil society, and policymakers to develop more sustainable solutions ensuring food security, plant adaptability, and the mitigation of adverse effects on sustainable food production systems. This book will cover three pillars defined by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for climate-smart agriculture: sustainable increase in agricultural production, adaptation, and plant resilience under climate change, and mitigation of environmental degradation through intensive agricultural practices. Furthermore, the book also highlights technological innovations taking place across different disciplines of agriculture to cater to both biotic and abiotic factors in agronomically important crops. This book serves as a useful resource documenting all recent developments made to achieve sustainable crop production. It is an interesting read for master’s and doctoral-level students, academics, scientists, and researchers in the field of agronomy and agricultural biotechnology.

The significance of the climate change and their impacts on fruit crops, their problems, and their solutions determine the need for a book in agriculture. So, firstly we are going to talk about the importance of climate change and the shift of the climate due to various reasons. Similarly, king of fruits (mango) is also facing various issues due to climate change and the most important problems which are causing serious constraints to mango production are Mango sudden decline and mango malformation. These problems have emerged in orchards since the issue of climate change is increasing day by day and currently there is no mango orchard free from these diseases and leading to very low production of the crop with respect to previous years. Similarly climate change has also raised the issue of unseen pathogens in the mango orchards posing serious challenges to mango production due to new diseases and stresses. The main drivers behind the writing of this book is that this book will disseminate a plethora of knowledge on how to deal smartly with the mango orchards in changing climate to obtain good yield and to maintain good health status.
