186 pages, and more than 150 illustrations and charts, size 8.25 x 10.75 inches. This manual is a compilation of three original factory publications. The first is a reproduction of the 108 page 'Workshop Instruction Manual' for the 1957-64 Lightweight and Heavyweight singles and the twin cylinder models. The second is a reproduction of the 12 page 'Supplementary Instruction Book for Competition Models'. The third is a 60 page 'Instruction Book' combination that is exclusive to the 1958-1966 G2, G5, 14 and 8 Lightweight 250cc and 350cc singles. While the reprint of the original 108 page AMC workshop manual states that it is appropriate for the 1957-1964 models, it actually covers the entire line of AJS and Matchless 250cc to 650cc Lightweight and Heavyweight singles and 500cc to 650cc twins manufactured by AMC through 1966 (see below). Please note that it does not include the 750cc AMC G15/45 (1962-63) or the later Norton/AJS/ Matchless G15 hybrids. Owners of these 750cc hybrids are directed to the 'Norton 1966-70 Lightweight & Heavyweight Twins' workshop manual, ISBN 9781588502421 as it includes significant maintenance and repair information on those models. While the single cylinder machines are always considered the backbone of AMC's post-war production, in 1948 they introduced a 500cc twin cylinder, the AJS model 20 and Matchless G9. However, it was 1957 before that singular model was joined by a number of additional 500cc, 600cc and 650cc twins. In 1958 they also added two 'lightweight' singles to their well respected line of 'heavyweight' singles. Unfortunately, by the mid 1960's, along with most British motorcycle manufacturers, AMC was struggling to compete with the flood of Japanese imports and by 1966, the AMC conglomerate had collapsed. While the reason is mired in mergers, finances, consolidation, politics and worker unrest, both the AJS and Matchless name continued onward, under license, until early 1970, at which point both marques were history. 1957-1966 Lightweight and Heavyweight Singles and Twins covered in this manual are as follows: A.J.S. Models AJS 250cc Lightweight Singles: 14, 14CS, 14S, 14CSR AJS 350cc Lightweight Singles: 8 AJS 350cc Heavyweight Singles: 16MS, 16, 16C, 16MC, 16MCS, 16S AJS 500cc Heavyweight Singles: 18S, 18, 18CS AJS 500cc Twins: 20, 20CS, 20CSR (Also covers the earlier AJS 20 from 1948 onwards) AJS 600cc Twins: 30, 30CS (Also covers the 1955/56 AJS 30) AJS 650cc Twins: 31, 31CS, 31CSR, 650 Twin Matchless Models Matchless 250cc Lightweight Singles: G2, G2CS, G2S, G2CSR Matchless 350cc Lightweight Singles: G5 Matchless 350cc Heavyweight Singles: G3LS, G3, G3C, G3LCS, G3S Matchless 500cc Heavyweight Singles: G80S, G80, G80CS Matchless 600cc Heavyweight Single: TCS. Matchless 500cc Twins: G9, G9CS, G9CSR (Also covers the earlier Matchless G9 from 1948 onwards) Matchless 600cc Twins: G11, G11CS (Also covers the 1955/56 Matchless G11) Matchless 650cc Twins: G12, G12CS, G12CSR, 650 Twin Owners of the AJS Heavyweight singles may also find the following two publications useful: ISBN 9781588501240 'Book of the 1945-60' models and ISBN 9781588501677 'Book of the1955-65' models. Similarly, owners of the Matchless Heavyweight singles are referred to ISBN 9781588502087 'Book of the 1945-1956' models and ISBN 9781588502056 'Book of the 1955-66 models.

No motorcycle manufacturer is more closely associated with one type of engine than BMW: the air-cooled boxer twin or 'airhead'. It was included in BMW's very first motorcycle in 1923 and virtually every machine the company made, of every type, from radical road bike to TT winner, to land speed record holder, to 1970s style icon and even to the creation of an all-new adventure bike class with the R 80 G/S, right up to the mid-1990s. Phil West celebrates the success of the BMW airhead twin motorcycles. This book, with over 290 photographs, includes a history of the company pre- and post-War; the personalities behind the development of the bikes; profiles of each of the 'R' bikes in turn, including detailed specification guides and production numbers. These wonderful machines are regularly celebrated and now BMW itself is harking back to them with an all-new series of machines.

Royal Enfield Bullet written by Peter Henshaw and has been published by The Crowood Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-26 with Transportation categories.

Despite being one of the most successful motorcycles of all time, the Royal Enfield Bullet has had a very chequered history. Its story begins in the 1930s and by the 1950s it was at the height of its popularity in post-War Britain. Then it became a stalwart of the Indian Army and manufacture transitioned from Britain to India. The near-collapse of the Royal Enfield marque in the 1990s almost meant the end of this classic motorbike, but with the involvement of the Eicher Group from 2001 onwards, the updated Bullet generated new interest and renewed its original commercial success, just like a phoenix rising from the ashes. With over 200 photographs, this book describes the origins of the Royal Enfield company and the pre-war Bullets from 1932 and the relaunch of the Bullet in 1949 with its radical swinging-arm frame. Derivative models such as the 350 and 500, as well as those for competition and road are covered as well as specials such as diesels, V-twins, Egli and big-bore Bullets. The development story behind the lean-burn, electric-start and 5-speed updates is discussed as well as the UCE - the all-new Bullet from 2008 and the Classic and its design story. Finally, the evolution beyond the Bullet is covered which includes the Continental GT and Himalyan 650 twins.

While BMW motorcycles remain mostly associated with its R-series shaft-drive boxer twins, it's the K-series liquid-cooled 'multis' that have been – and remain – the German firm's most advanced, radical and downright wacky bikes of all. Launched in 1983 to propel BMW into a whole new era, the K-series has included some of the world's most innovative and interesting motorcycles. From the original liquid-cooled, fuel-injected K100, to the radically aerodynamic K1 of the 1980s; the ultra-powerful K1200RS and space age K1200LT of the 1990s; and the 'Duolever' K1200S and 6-cylinder K1600 of the 2000s and beyond, BMW's 'Ks' have always been special, but also so advanced and pioneering that they've helped shape the whole of modern motorcycling. BMW expert Phil West, author of BMW Airhead Twins and BMW GS, also published by Crowood, has again painstakingly researched their complete history, found pictures never published before and recounts the whole K-Series story in a comprehensive and engaging tale.

The 3-cylinder Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket 3 were developed to compete with Honda's forthcoming 750cc motorcycle. Initially they did not compare well – although very fast, they lacked sophistication and their quirky styling was offputting – and the decision was made to suspend production. This was not the most auspicious start, but a fightback was initiated and in 1971 the factory race team had a triumphant year including placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Daytona 200. With over 250 photographs, the full rollercoaster-ride history of these bikes is described, including: how the bikes came to be, including a timeline of significant events; a year-by-year account of the evolution of the bikes, through the T150, T160 and Rocket 3; the story of the Hurricane; the full racing history and, finally, the Triumph 3-cylinder bikes today.

Classic British Motorcycles written by Andy Tallone and has been published by Key Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-20 with Transportation categories.

Classic British motorcycles were more than simple machines, they were a cultural phenomenon that lasted half a century. From the early days of motoring, British innovators led the way, building some of the world’s most famous motorcycles, as well as some of the best performers. At one point, the rest of the motorcycle world followed Britain’s lead, and by the late 1950s, the British were by far the largest producers of motorcycles in the world. However, barely a decade later, the British motorcycle industry was almost bankrupt and in utter disarray. Illustrated with over 150 photographs, this book explores the rise and fall of the British motorcycle industry, looking at its history through the years and then at the motorcycles themselves by brand, giving the complete story of these amazing machines.
