Las páginas que forman este libro vienen de la vida. Por eso no tienen trampa. Si han tardado en ser escritas, es precisamente porque nadie pensaba en escribirlas... Hasta que un día la vida misma se las pidió como una necesidad interior de no callar lo que habían visto y oído (Hech 4,20), a pesar de que los tribunales de los hombres se lo seguimos prohibiendo... de muchas maneras. Benjamín González Buelta dio forma a estas páginas. Pero son de muchos: hombres y mujeres, niños, jóvenes y mayores... de suburbios dominicanos, que durante años se han propuesto hacer el Evangelio. Así de simple. Al lector cristiano del primer mundo (¡da miedo arrogarse el título de cristiano en un "primer mundo"!) se le ocurrirán montones de preguntas: ¿De dónde les viene a éstos esta sabiduría? ¿No es éste el hijo del carpintero? (Mt 13,54-55). ¿Qué Dios se parece más al Dios de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo: el de estas páginas o el de nuestros libros? ¿Va a ser verdad que los pobres nos evangelizan? Sin duda, el destinatario no pretendido (pero sí el más necesitado) de estas páginas es el cristiano miembro de una Iglesia adormecida, abundante, instalada, preocupada de sí misma, triste. De una Iglesia rica que, como la de Corinto, necesita medirse su caridad por comparación con las Iglesias pobres de Macedonia (1 Cor 8,1-9). Si tenemos la humildad de leer estas páginas con paz y sin prejuicios, como quien se deja enseñar por Dios, se nos caerá mucha hojarasca y nos nacerán brotes nuevos. Lo que significará que "el Reino de Dios está cerca" (Lc 21,29-31).
