It's also about sacrifice and pain, of frustrations and confusions. Algebra of Hope tells the story of Indian expats through the eyes of Rakesh, a doctor who takes a job in Riyadh. In the social and family fabric that we live in, the obligatory fibers are plentiful. However, for ill-defined reasons an Indian expat has been told that he should strip the obligation to himself. He does this proudly in the giving years and gets intoxicated by the tag of a giver. Grey hair and wrinkled face later on tells him, Why did you not look after yourself? Regret takes over hope as his best years have already been surrendered. Why should his sweat always be some ones balm? But for some that tangle had to be ripped off at the right time..! Amidst the frustration and despair that so often characterize the expatriate's existence, there is also the uplifting story of determination, of fighting for what you believe is right, and of self-belief. And that is what this story too, is all about. The Author Dr.Ranjit Divakaran, a maxillofacial surgeon, is a native of Indian state of Kerala and has served in many gulf countries for almost fifteen years.

There is no one best way for an undergraduate student to learn elementary algebra. Some kinds of presentations will please some learners and will disenchant others. This text presents elementary algebra organized accord ing to some principles of universal algebra. Many students find such a presentation of algebra appealing and easier to comprehend. The approach emphasizes the similarities and common concepts of the many algebraic structures. Such an approach to learning algebra must necessarily have its formal aspects, but we have tried in this presentation not to make abstraction a goal in itself. We have made great efforts to render the algebraic concepts intuitive and understandable. We have not hesitated to deviate from the form of the text when we feel it advisable for the learner. Often the presenta tions are concrete and may be regarded by some as out of fashion. How to present a particular topic is a subjective one dictated by the author's estima tion of what the student can best handle at this level. We do strive for consistent unifying terminology and notation. This means abandoning terms peculiar to one branch of algebra when there is available a more general term applicable to all of algebra. This small book started a profound revolution in the development of mathematical physics, one which has reached many working physicists already, and which stands poised to bring about far-reaching change in the future. At its heart is the use of Clifford algebra to unify otherwise disparate mathematical languages, particularly those of spinors, quaternions, tensors and differential forms. It provides a unified approach covering all these areas and thus leads to a very efficient ‘toolkit’ for use in physical problems including quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, electromagnetism and relativity (both special and general) – only one mathematical system needs to be learned and understood, and one can use it at levels which extend right through to current research topics in each of these areas. These same techniques, in the form of the ‘Geometric Algebra’, can be applied in many areas of engineering, robotics and computer science, with no changes necessary – it is the same underlying mathematics, and enables physicists to understand topics in engineering, and engineers to understand topics in physics (including aspects in frontier areas), in a way which no other single mathematical system could hope to make possible. There is another aspect to Geometric Algebra, which is less tangible, and goes beyond questions of mathematical power and range. This is the remarkable insight it gives to physical problems, and the way it constantly suggests new features of the physics itself, not just the mathematics.
