The Local Structure Of Algebraic K Theory written by Bjørn Ian Dundas and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09-06 with Mathematics categories.
Algebraic K-theory encodes important invariants for several mathematical disciplines, spanning from geometric topology and functional analysis to number theory and algebraic geometry. As is commonly encountered, this powerful mathematical object is very hard to calculate. Apart from Quillen's calculations of finite fields and Suslin's calculation of algebraically closed fields, few complete calculations were available before the discovery of homological invariants offered by motivic cohomology and topological cyclic homology. This book covers the connection between algebraic K-theory and Bökstedt, Hsiang and Madsen's topological cyclic homology and proves that the difference between the theories are ‘locally constant’. The usefulness of this theorem stems from being more accessible for calculations than K-theory, and hence a single calculation of K-theory can be used with homological calculations to obtain a host of ‘nearby’ calculations in K-theory. For instance, Quillen's calculation of the K-theory of finite fields gives rise to Hesselholt and Madsen's calculations for local fields, and Voevodsky's calculations for the integers give insight into the diffeomorphisms of manifolds. In addition to the proof of the full integral version of the local correspondence between K-theory and topological cyclic homology, the book provides an introduction to the necessary background in algebraic K-theory and highly structured homotopy theory; collecting all necessary tools into one common framework. It relies on simplicial techniques, and contains an appendix summarizing the methods widely used in the field. The book is intended for graduate students and scientists interested in algebraic K-theory, and presupposes a basic knowledge of algebraic topology.

This handbook offers a compilation of techniques and results in K-theory. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific topic and is written by a leading expert. Many chapters present historical background; some present previously unpublished results, whereas some present the first expository account of a topic; many discuss future directions as well as open problems. It offers an exposition of our current state of knowledge as well as an implicit blueprint for future research.

This volume contains the proceedings of the CATS4 Conference on Higher Categorical Structures and their Interactions with Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Topology and Algebra, held from July 2-7, 2012, at CIRM in Luminy, France. Over the past several years, the CATS conference series has brought together top level researchers from around the world interested in relative and higher category theory and its applications to classical mathematical domains. Included in this volume is a collection of articles covering the applications of categories and stacks to geometry, topology and algebra. Techniques such as localization, model categories, simplicial objects, sheaves of categories, mapping stacks, dg structures, hereditary categories, and derived stacks, are applied to give new insight on cluster algebra, Lagrangians, trace theories, loop spaces, structured surfaces, stability, ind-coherent complexes and 1-affineness showing up in geometric Langlands, branching out to many related topics along the way.

Approximation Theory And Numerical Analysis Meet Algebra Geometry Topology written by Martina Lanini and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-22 with Mathematics categories.
The book, based on the INdAM Workshop "Approximation Theory and Numerical Analysis Meet Algebra, Geometry, Topology" provides a bridge between different communities of mathematicians who utilize splines in their work. Splines are mathematical objects which allow researchers in geometric modeling and approximation theory to tackle a wide variety of questions. Splines are interesting for both applied mathematicians, and also for those working in purely theoretical mathematical settings. This book contains contributions by researchers from different mathematical communities: on the applied side, those working in numerical analysis and approximation theory, and on the theoretical side, those working in GKM theory, equivariant cohomology and homological algebra.

Higher Franz Reidemeister Torsion written by Kiyoshi Igusa and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Mathematics categories.
This work is devoted to the theory of topological higher Franz-Reidemeister torsion in $K$-theory. The author defines the higher Franz-Reidemeister torsion based on Volodin's $K$-theory and Borel's regulator map. He describes its properties and generalizations and studies the relation between the higher Franz-Reidemeister torsion and other torsions used in $K$-theory: Whitehead torsion and Ray-Singer torsion. He also presents methods of computing higher Franz-Reidemeister torsion, illustrates them with numerous examples, and describes various applications of higher Franz-Reidemeister torsion, particularly for the study of homology of mapping class groups. Packed with up-to-date information, the book should provide a useful research and reference tool for specialists working in algebraic topology and $K$-theory.
