Allied operations and strategy in the spring 1940 Norwegian campaign which ended with the evacuation of Narvik are analyzed. These operations were the first joint, combined warfare in WWII and conducted in a littoral environment. This is the second volume of Geirr Haarr's monumental and unsurpassed account of the events at sea during the German invasion of Norway in 1940. The early part of the book covers the operations off southern and western Norway where Noewegian and British forces attempted to that the German advance out of the invasion ports and the stream of supplies and reinforcements across the Skagerrak. Despite early successes, however, his ambitious northern campaign foundered and ultimately failed.
