"A cerveja mais antiga que se tem notícia — na verdade não é bem notícia, mas uma descoberta arqueológica — foi feita pelos sumérios há pelo menos 5 mil anos. Não por coincidência, a Suméria é a civilização mais antiga que se conhece, então, deduzimos ser a cerveja um marco civilizatório e que tem cumprido a “missão” de acompanhar a evolução do homem desde então, com dignidade. A cerveja suméria era uma bebida fermentada feita à base de cereais, mel e frutas, contando também com temperos para conferir mais sabor à bebida; os ingredientes mudaram, mas em princípio, a cerveja ainda é a mesma bebida que mistura água a cereais fermentados, e sorvida depois de a mistura descansar e ser filtrada. Embora os métodos de produção industrial de cerveja continuem sendo os mesmos há cerca de um século, a bebida não parou nunca de evoluir, e com os recursos técnicos e científicos andando aos saltos, novos estilos de cerveja são apresentados dia após dia, surpreendendo o consumidor e diversificando a cerveja cada vez mais. No Brasil, a cerveja tem uma origem meio obscura, clandestina — provavelmente começou a entrar no território no século XVII, quando na condição de colônia, o País estava impedido de ter manufatura de qualquer espécie, e o contrabando era o meio de os colonos adquirirem tudo aquilo que Portugal não trazia para cá; mas em meio a inúmeros percalços e dificuldades (descritos resumidamente no artigo A Curiosa História da Cerveja no Brasil), o espírito empreendedor prevaleceu e o mercado cervejeiro brasileiro se consolidou, tornando-se um dos setores industriais mais ricos e desenvolvidos, tanto que, atualmente, ocupa o 4º lugar no mercado mundial de cervejas, destacando-se como produtor, consumidor e exportador. Não há dúvida de que o brasileiro ama a cerveja e sabe como produzila com inequívoca competência. "

"Heavy Metal, que, em portugues, literalmente quer dizer metal pesado, é um gênero musical composto por elementos do Rock ´ n ´roll, do blues e da música clássica. Sua principal característica está no poder de suas guitarras distorcidas, da forte bateria de pedaleiras duplas e acentuado ritmo conduzido por um baixo vigoroso. Sendo que no vocal, valoriza os agudos. Em nosso pais, foi popularmente chamado nos primeiros anos de rock pauleira. As bandas de Heavy Metal são compostas predominantemente masculinas. Com muita mulher seguindo a rapaziada. Depois de cinco décadas, o gênero evoluiu e se dividiu em subgêneros. Porém, o “heavy metal clássico”, composto pelos grupos pioneiros e também pelas novas bandas que seguem a vertente pioneira se mantem em alta. Sendo cultuado pelas novas gerações que vão chegando. A origem do termo Heavy Metal não é clara. Há uma versão que foi cunhada pelo escritor William S. Burroughs, em seu romance de 1961, The Soft Machine, ao se referir a um de seus personagens, Willy Urano, como um cara “heavy metal”. Em seu romance seguinte, de 1964, Nova Express, o conceito heavy metal é usado como uma metáfora para drogas que causam dependência. Nestes romances Burroughs teoriza que o uso frequente de som pelas pessoas constitui na formação de um “agente de liberação e alienação”, criado para enfrentar nosso mundo cada vez mais mecânico. Mas há ainda uma outra teoria sobre a origem do rótulo heavy metal, surgida depois da morte de Jimmy Hendrix, expressa por um crítico de rock que, em 1967, disse que a música de Jimi Hendrix era “como metal pesado caindo do céu”. A palavra heavy, começou também a ser usada na Era da Contra Cultura. Era uma gíria americana, com o significado de grave ou profundo. E fazia refrências a música pesada, ritmo mais lento e variações amplificadas do pop padrão. Em 1968, o termo heavy metal aparece pela primeira vez em uma canção, em “Born to be Wild” do grupo Steppenwolf. Ainda, a banda Iron Butterfly, naquele mesmo ano, lançou seu primeiro álbum intitulado pesado."
