A BTS fan favorite! A WALL STREET JOURNAL STORIES THAT CAN TAKE YOU ANYWHERE PICK * ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY'S STAY HOME AND READ PICK * SALON'S BEST AND BOLDEST * BUSTLE'S MOST ANTICIPATED The Emissary meets The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime in this poignant and triumphant story about how love, friendship, and persistence can change a life forever. This story is, in short, about a monster meeting another monster. One of the monsters is me. Yunjae was born with a brain condition called Alexithymia that makes it hard for him to feel emotions like fear or anger. He does not have friends—the two almond-shaped neurons located deep in his brain have seen to that—but his devoted mother and grandmother provide him with a safe and content life. Their little home above his mother’s used bookstore is decorated with colorful Post-it notes that remind him when to smile, when to say "thank you," and when to laugh. Then on Christmas Eve—Yunjae’s sixteenth birthday—everything changes. A shocking act of random violence shatters his world, leaving him alone and on his own. Struggling to cope with his loss, Yunjae retreats into silent isolation, until troubled teenager Gon arrives at his school, and they develop a surprising bond. As Yunjae begins to open his life to new people—including a girl at school—something slowly changes inside him. And when Gon suddenly finds his life at risk, Yunjae will have the chance to step outside of every comfort zone he has created to perhaps become the hero he never thought he would be. Readers of Wonder by R.J. Palaccio and Ginny Moon by Benjamin Ludwig will appreciate this "resonant" story that "gives Yunjae the courage to claim an entirely different story." (Booklist, starred review) Translated from the Korean by Sandy Joosun Lee.

Have I ever told you that story about the almond and the walnut that became the best of friends and eventually, the talk of the town?! No? Well then, wait until you hear what I have in store for you!It all started in a far, far away land called "Nuttopia", where nuts of all sorts ruled the day! There were pecans, pistachios, hazelnuts, peanuts...well, you get the point, right? A ton of diversity in "Nuttopia"! The thing is, there was this one nut, belonging to the Almond Family, who just never seemed to fit in. No matter how hard he tried, he was constantly overlooked by everyone around him. The reason being, he was born half-bitten!! He was just...incomplete...Well, every single week, there was this competition that rewarded the greatest achievement made by an inhabitant of "Nuttopia" with the grand prize, and that's not including the pure gold trophy that came on the side! The fortunate winner would actually be roasted in the sun and packaged as a snack, an absolute honor for any nut! That's right, a literal roast underneath that fiery, orange star, where he or she could achieve the ultimate prize of being sun-glazed and marked as a taste-worthy nut! However, our hero, the unfortunate, imperfect Almond, just could not seem to find a purpose in his life and as such, he never felt valuable enough to enter the competition. Until one day! A day when a Walnut named Jerome, flowing with energy, stumbled upon the down-on-his-luck Almond and decided to fill him with a sense of purpose and a newfound zest for life! They bonded, almost instantly, and the pair decided to fuse together as a mixed-nut by way of a natural "glue" (I can't spoil the entire story, so I'll leave that secret for you to discover). Let's just say, their decision came as a gigantic surprise to all. This tale goes out to everyone, young and old, but especially to those with an "inner child" bursting with imagination and willing to let their thoughts roam free to a magical land filled with quirky, yet lovable nuts. And to anyone allergic to nuts, well, I hope you will forgive the subject matter, but please feel free to substitute the characters with M&M's or your favorite candy instead!Remember to never stop dreaming and to always love yourself for who you are. Only then will others begin to notice your inner glow.

Their health benefits have been documented with the passage of time and are now being tested in the light of modern scientific researches; looking at the results of these researches, there is a good reason why you should consider reading the rest of the book! A stalwart nut in cakes, puddings and other sweat dishes, almonds have been on almost every household's shopping list. With respect to freshness, they are always preferred to hazelnuts & walnuts and their slow rate of rancidity makes them a food item that can easily tolerate the back of a storage cupboard. Their neutral, nutty and crunchy taste upon baking makes them irresistibly delicious and in no time can you nibble your way through every almond in front of you. But what are the origins of this super-delicious and nutritious food? Almond is actually a species of trees, belonging to the genus Prunus, which are indigenous to the South & Middle East region of Asia. The almond plant is widely cultivated for its edible seed, also known as almond. The almond tree is a deciduous one and grows 4-10 m in height; it has a trunk of diameter 30 cm. The twigs when young are of green color but become purplish as soon as they are exposed to sunlight. In the second year the twigs become grey and the leaves grow 3-5 inches long. The flowers are characterized by white to pinkish color, 3-5 cm diameter and usually consist of 5 petals. The fruit matures in the autumn, about 8 months after flowering but still for an economic bearing, one more year is required. The fruit is about 4-6 cm long and in specific terms is not exactly a nut, but rather a drupe. A drupe is a fruit in which an outer fleshy part surrounds a shell containing a seed but instead of being fleshy the outer part of the fruit is thick and leathery in texture. Inside this hull is a hard, woody shell which packs the edible seed known to many as almond. The seed acquired from the woody shell is covered by a thin brownish skin, which when pealed reveals the inner color of almond; i.e. off white. Almonds can further be categorized into two types: i. Sweet Almonds ii. Bitter Almonds
