Psychosemiosis As A Key To Body Mind Continuum written by Matti T. Keinänen and has been published by Nova Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Mind and body categories.

The aim of this book is to study the mindbody continuum from the viewpoint of psychosemiosis. Psychosemiosis means that the human mind emerges and develops using a coding method of signs in mutual interaction with the significant others (usually in relation to parents of a child). The author developed a four-stage symbolisation-reflectiveness model to study the psychosemiotic process and its evolution in the human mind. If the development of the psychosemiotic process is inhibited and/or disturbed, mental health disorders are the consequence. The inhibited and/or disturbed psychosemiotic process may be initiated again in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This book examines the development of the personality of university students from the viewpoint of psychosemiosis. The aim is to show that: 1. Psychosemiosis offers a key to understanding the dilemma between the human body and mind; 2. The human mind emerges as the development of psychosemiosis which means that the human mind binds the emotionally meaningful interaction with significant others by means of the coding system of signs; 3. The four-stage symbolisation-reflectiveness model is suitable for the study of the psychosemiotic process and its evolution in the human mind; 4. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy has a curative effect on the development of the psychosemiotic process in the human mind.

In the concluding chapters of this book the author introduces GIM, the Global Intelligent Machine. GIM is a huge global hybrid machine, a combination of production machinery, information machinery and mechanized networks. In the future it may very well encompass all machinery on the globe. The author discusses the development of machines from the Stone Age until the present and pays particular attention to the rise of the science of machines and the development of the relationship between science and technology. The first production and information tools were invented in the Stone Age. In the Agricultural empires tools and machinery became more complex. During and after the Industrial Revolution the pace of innovation accelerated. In the 20th century the mechanization of production, information processing and networks became increasingly sophisticated. GIM is the culmination of this development. GIM is no science fiction. GIM exists and is growing and getting smarter and smarter. Individuals and institutions are trying to control parts of this giant global robot. By looking at its history and by putting GIM in the context of the current developments, this book seeks to reach a fuller understanding of this phenomenon.

The Global Origins Of Psychology written by Richard Valentine and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-10 with Psychology categories.

This book offers a historical introduction to the remote origins of psychology, and is the first book in a series on the history of the subject. Combining a deep history approach with the study of ancient civilisations, it places psychology in a historical and global context using rigorous academic research. This book begins by separating the Greek components of psychology – psyche and logos – in order to trace their histories, separate and together, through the global Neolithic and Bronze Ages. The author develops a toolkit by deconstructing the writing of history, modern psychology, and analysis of culture, and by introducing theories from neuroscience and cultural psychology that can be tested against the data. He then takes readers on a journey back in time, from the borders of our current climatic envelope (the Holocene) towards the present, through Ancient Iraq, Egypt, Israel, and China. Each chapter deepens the reader’s understanding of psychology in its global context outside the boundaries of Western culture. In so doing, the book initiates a post-colonial re-narration showing that the story of psychology is wider and deeper than many contemporary origin stories suggest. Presented in an accessible manner, this is an excellent resource for students of psychology, philosophy, history, linguistics, archaeology, and anthropology, as well as general readers who want to learn more about the origins of this fascinating subject.

Body Psychotherapy History Concepts And Methods written by Michael C. Heller and has been published by W. W. Norton & Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-20 with Psychology categories.

From yoga to neuroscience, a tour of major ideas about the body and mind. Body psychotherapy, which examines the relationship of bodily and physical experiences to emotional and psychological experiences, seems at first glance to be a relatively new area and on the cutting edge of psychotherapeutic theory and practice. It is, but the major concepts of body/mind treatment are actually drawn from a wide range of historical material, material that spans centuries and continents. Here, in a massively comprehensive book, Michael Heller summarizes all the major concepts, thinkers, and movements whose work has led to the creation of the field we now know as body/mind psychotherapy. The book covers everything from Eastern and Western thought—beginning with yoga and Taosim and moving to Plato and Descartes. It also discusses major developments in biology—how organisms are defined—and neuroscience. This is truly a comprehensive reference for anyone interested in the origins of the idea that the mind and body are not separate and that both must be understood together in order to understand people and their behavior.
