Das Leben ist wie Radfahren. Um das Gleichgewicht zu halten, muss man in Bewegung bleiben. Dieses Buch widme ich allen Frauen! Damit möchte ich den Leserinnen das Altwerden als etwas Natürliches und auch Heiteres vorstellen. Alt werden wird jede, keine kann’s verhindern, aber wir Alten können unser Leben genießen, wenn wir uns nur ein bisschen bemühen. In diesem Buch kommt auch mal Blödsinniges vor, das darf auch so sein. Optimismus liest sich umgekehrt – Sumsi mit Po – passt genau zu mir! Tscha, ein schöner Po ist doch auch nur ein Rektum mit Speck drum! Mein Lieblingstier ist die Zimtschnecke. Würde ich in einem Lebkuchenhaus leben, wäre ich nach 7 Stunden und 24 Minuten obdachlos. In meinem Leben habe ich immer versucht, das Ungute, was ja auch da war, auszuklinken. Manchmal ist mir das sogar gelungen und schon ging es mir wieder besser. Es ist doch so: Wenn ich schon auf die Nase falle, tut es weh, aber wenn ich aufstehe, freu’ ich mich riesig, dass ich wieder oben bin. Macht das die Altersweisheit? Ich freue mich einfach, dass es so ist, wie es ist, und sehe das Leben positiv. Das hilft mir immer wieder. Als Rentnerin kann ich morgens liegenbleiben, brauche nicht zu hetzen und dem Geld nachzujagen. Beim Lesen dieses Buchs darf gerne gelacht werden. Wer lacht, bleibt länger frisch. Altern ist nicht nur doof. Glaubt mir, es gibt immer wieder Schönes zu erleben. Gäbe es Aufsitz-Staubsauger, würden Männer sogar im Haushalt helfen wollen! In diesem Sinne, liebe Frauen, werdet alt mit Humor!

Aus der Einleitung: Wenn einem Rentner vorübergehend sinnvolle Ideen zur Gestaltung seines Rentnerdaseins ausgehen, kommt es schon mal zu sonderbaren Vorstellungen über das, was man noch alles tun könnte. Angeln wäre eine Option, aber das war ja schon über Jahre mein Hobby, bis meine Frau sagte: „Nun reicht es.“ Mir war das Warten auf einen kapitalen Fang sowieso allmählich über. Man könnte beispielsweise auch Briefmarken sammeln oder sich intelligente Sprüche verstorbener Politiker an die Wand hängen, aber nichts gegen Politiker, denn deren Weisheiten können es durchaus Wert sein, sich diese öfter vor Augen zu führen. Ich habe mich schließlich dafür entschieden, die Gedanken über das alt werden, die mich bewegen, aufzuschreiben. Vielleicht kann ich im hohen Alter – wenn ich es denn erreiche – selbst noch prüfen, ob sich meine jetzige Einstellung wesentlich verändert hat. Zufällig entdeckte ich ein weiteres Interessengebiet: Wenn mich Ereignisse aus meinem Privatleben beschäftigen – zum Beispiel Fragen aus der Medizin, oder Themen, die im Freundeskreis angesprochen werden, fasse ich meine Gedanken dazu gerne in Verse. Besonders auch dann, wenn Probleme auftauchen, oder es angebracht ist, mal über unsere Politiker nachzudenken. Einige der Verse stelle ich in diesem Buch vor.
