Shamanism, hypnosis, imaginal psychotherapies, and meditation are based on the use of what we in the modern western world think of as non-ordinary human consciousness. These four modalities have fundamental similarities and differences in purpose, theory, technique, type of alternative consciousness, and their application of non-ordinary reality. Shamanism, the oldest and most intertwined with the cultures in which it is practiced, will be explored as a model for individual healing and transformation and professional training. The shamanic way will also be explored as a model of consciousness and a world-view that offers individuals, groups, and society much needed coping mechanisms, healing techniques, and transformative values that may be helpful in dealing with this trying and important transition time for humanity. Imaginal therapies, meditation and hypnosis all have their roots in shamanism, although in some parts of the world at certain times in history, shamanism borrowed from meditation in its adaptation and development.

ALTERED STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS LEARN HOW TO ACHIEVE THEM, THEIR BENEFITS AND THE SUBSTANCES THAT FACILITATE THEM ABOUT THIS BOOK Altered states of consciousness can be tremendously beneficial, especially when it comes to healing old wounds and releasing trauma. Most ancient civilizations were aware of this fact and, fortunately, the legacy of their wisdom has come down to us today. High performance, in any area of life, is always the product of an altered consciousness. Therefore, if we want to develop our potential to its limits, it is important to be willing to move to a more intense altered state that allows us to discover the deepest that lies within us. It is no coincidence that many of today's celebrities, from leading journalists to renowned surgeons and CEOs, employ various methods to alter their consciousness in order to maximize their abilities and more easily recover from life's ups and downs. These methods range from taking a meditative walk in the woods to fasting in a cave, taking a silent meditation retreat and using advanced breathing techniques. However, for many people, the most powerful change has been achieved through psychedelics such as ayahuasca and other natural plants or substances. CONTENT Introduction What Prevents Us From Entering The Flow State Of Our Maximum Potential? Can Psychedelic Substances Repair The Brain? Can Psychedelic Substances Help Heal Trauma? Why Are Psychedelics Not Part Of Western Medicine? What Is The Position Of Psychedelics Today? Are There Other Ways To Enter Altered Flow States? Healing Our Deepest Wounds written by Stanislav Grof and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Holotropic Breathwork (Trademark) categories.

Dr. Grof's consciousness research over the last five decades has shown that the deepest roots of trauma often lie in experiences from birth or in events from human history that have not yet been resolved and are still active in the collective unconscious. This unresolved personal or collective history then expresses through an individual or group that has some connection to the earlier events. Traditional therapeutic approaches which focus only on events in the personal biography or tranquilizing medications do not access or heal these deeper wounds in the human psyche. From a more general perspective, Dr. Grof examines the broad problems of violence and greed in society and finds that the widespread fear and aggression between individuals and groups may also originate in large part from the unconscious acting-out of unresolved historical traumas from the collective unconscious. The message of Dr. Grof and this book is, however, a hopeful one: there are approaches to therapy which utilize a specific non-ordinary state of consciousness which enables individuals, with support, to access and heal these deeper levels of trauma from the personal and collective unconscious. He has named this state of consciousness Holotropic, a composite word which means “oriented toward wholeness” or “moving in the direction of wholeness” (from the Greek holos = whole and trepo, trepein = moving toward or in the direction of something). Dr. Grof describes various approaches to achieving this Holotropic state and using it for healing, with his focus on Holotropic Breathwork, which he developed with his partner Christina, and psychedelic therapy, which he pioneered in the 1950s and which is now experiencing a renaissance of clinical research for treatment of addictions and PTSD.

Exceptional Experience And Health written by Christine Simmonds-Moore and has been published by McFarland this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-10 with Social Science categories.

The study of the effect of “exceptional” experiences and beliefs on health—including anomalous, placebo, or hypnotic healing and mystical, religious, transpersonal, and creative experiences—is attracting increasing academic and public interest. This collection of essays explores the nature of mind, its impact on the body, and the relationship between “exceptional” experiences and physical health, mental health, and the potential for other types of perception. Examining the influence of spiritual practices, mental imagery, and alternative healing methods such as Reiki and Johrei, the essays encourage the expansion of mental health practice to include the full range of exceptional experiences. By normalizing experiences that are often pathologized, this book recognizes that exceptional human experiences can and do have value for physical and mental health.
