Consider this true scenario: Two teenagers are both hit by some very nasty, damaging computer viruses. One was a virus that took down his Windows desktop at random times. The other was a trojan, with a hacker at the other end trying to blackmail him for game CD keys. Neither of the teens had up to date anti-virus software. Only one had a firewall. Fact: Teenagers often suffer numerous other problems - from corrupt systems that need to be restored, to having E-mail accounts stolen, to being impersonated on instant message chats. Security experts know that home users are the most vulnerable to viruses. In fact, many home users are teenagers. They often have the best computer (for games), and spend the most time on the Web. And while the news media and parents have done a decent job of warning teenagers of the risks of strangers in public chat rooms, they’ve done virtually nothing to teach teens other aspects of computer security. Always Use Protection: A Teen’s Guide to Safe Computing contains the most important things every teen needs to know about computer security. Not just the usual information about protecting teens online, but the equally important information on protecting computers from viruses and preventing identity theft (which teens surprisingly suffer from as well).

Building Capacity Using Tefl And African Languages As Development Oriented Literacy Tools written by Ngessimo M. Mutaka and has been published by African Books Collective this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Education categories.
Building Capacity promotes the vision that the teaching of African languages can best achieve its aim of boosting the economic and cultural development of the Africans if they are made to work in synergy with a revamping of the course contents of international languages that will be taught within the frame of a development-oriented literacy curriculum. Great emphasis is put on the oral skills in the use of African languages as they are to serve as a link between the community and the school for the ultimate revitalization of the positive aspects of African cultures in a world beset by globalization. The book is supplemented with a sample of texts in the appendix that are meant to be a bridge between formal texts taught in classrooms and literacy texts that can raise the genuine interests of the local populations in that they address their immediate needs. Among the possible topics language teachers are encouraged to explore in their classes are those concerning economic development, but also such issues as health, education, the environment, food security, and conflict resolution. "In the face of the growing interest in the use of African Languages by Africans as symbols of personal and cultural identity and as means of empowering the rural communities in the entreprise of national development, the need for a methodologically appropriate manual to guide the teaching and learning of African languages becomes urgent. This book is a timely response, predicated on a policy of the symbiotic use of African languages along with partner (foreign-official) languages, to attain a balanced level of economic and socio-cultural development. It is based on a compendium of well- thought-out principles geared towards a rapid acquisition of written and oral language skills that are congruent with and reflect the socio-cultural and economic concerns of the linguistic community." Beban Sammy Chumbow, Professor of Linguistics, University of Yaounde I "Among the numerous proposals in this book is the necessity for Africans, and I would add, for the communities of Asia and Latin America, to re-think the contents of their language courses and assign them an objective which aims at the integral development of their communities. It is indeed imperative that these courses reflect clear objectives of seeking social, cultural, and economic developments that harmonize with African, Asian, and Latin American values that are deep rooted in their respective various cultures." Jean-Pierre Angenot Professor of Linguistics, Federal University of Rondonia, Porto Velho, Brazil."

Pieces of My Heart: A Free-Spirited Gypsy's Journey Thru her heart and soul...and hell. - A True Story Jump on the back with motorcycle mama Katy Ishee, as she wildly steers us on a blistering ride of unwed motherhood, familial alienation, bikers, drugs, and insane asylums--you won't know whether to fall on your knees and pray to the Almighty or get stone drunk and listen to Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead. When 17-year-old Katy is forced to surrender her son to strangers, her life becomes a web of secrets, lies and rebellion. Learn the hidden, yet true secrets of how unwed mothers are treated by the System, and what actually goes on in government-approved mental wards. A vivid picture of horror is painted as she describes her ten electro-convulsive shock treatments. Her rebellion grows as she travels from Haight-Ashbury during the Summer of Love, through the brotherhood of motorcycling and four abusive marriages, even spending some time in sick-slick Hollywood ... across the country, back-and-forth, stubbornly refusing to give up on her dream. “Katy’s is that spirit that refuses to compromise either with her herself or the world around her. It is that spirit that refuses to be quiet for the sake of expediency but rather screams to be heard. It is that indomitable spirit that never gives up and in the end is proven to be the best of what it is that makes us human. This is Katy Ishee. This is Pieces of My Heart. This is a new, fresh voice that needs to be heard.” “This story is so shocking and strong, you have to be strong to read it.
