Expanding Curriculum Theory written by William M. Reynolds and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-28 with Education categories.

Expanding Curriculum Theory, Second Edition carries through the major focus of the original volume—to reflect on the influence of Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of "lines of flight" and its application to curriculum theorizing. What is different is that the lines of flight have since shifted and produced expanded understandings of this concept for curriculum theory and for education in general. This edition reflects the impact of events that have contributed to this shift, in particular the (il)logic of school policy changes and reforms in the past decade, and the continued explosion of social media and its effect on the collective understanding of how both "knowledge" and "education" work as forms of repression. The introduction updates the text and puts it into current debates in the field and in the larger socio-economic milieu. New dis/positions are presented that explore central questions circulating within and outside curriculum studies. Exciting scholarship on a range of topics includes notions of desire and commodities, youth culture and violence, new directions in curriculum theory, Eco-Ethical consciousness, new Deleuzian views of normality, the diffusion of technology and lines of flight in transnational curriculum inquiry.

A cheeky tale of campus folly! Things aren’t going well for James Duffy. The beleaguered communications director of Sir Richard Middling University is struggling to do the right thing while navigating the quirks and minefields of campus politics. The odds are against him and the challenges keep piling up: an ambitious polytechnical college is scheming to take over Sir Middling U; a furore erupts over a bigoted guest speaker; and activists want to tear down a statue of the university’s controversial namesake. While striving to defuse the various crises, Duffy encounters a cast of eccentric characters: a scholarly burlesque queen; an author of dreadful poetry; a hobby-horse-riding free-speech advocate; and a diaper-wearing basset hound. As things go from bad to worse, Duffy's flagging spirits are lifted—and his moral compass righted—by the girl of his dreams, the wise and loyal Sophie Munn.

The New Theory Of Consciousness written by DELANIN FADAHUNSY and has been published by Author House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Philosophy categories.

This new theory by observation and deduction, identifies that consciousness originated from nothing(zero; at the origin of living cells) and progressed in a gradual continuum through plant (vegetative) to reptiles to mammals to humans, illuminating how organisms attained those different levels, including the 'Permanent Access Memory (PAM) Hypothesis' in gaining self-consciousness. This theory discusses that mammals can only sleep at the level of reptilian consciousness (the sleep-wake consciousness) as the mammalian and human consciousness levels are sharp, focused cognitive states at which sleep is impossible. Rapid Eye Movement Behavioural Disorder (RBD) is the first safety net preventing mammals, at sleep, from falling through the consciousness-continuum into coma (vegetate consciousness) or death, and sleepwalking is the last vital safety net, if and when RBD fails; because even though a necessity for sleep, the reptilian consciousness is unsafe for mammals, due to the danger of sleeping through the Consciousness - Continuum to coma. It has now revealed, quite unexpectedly, the fact that in the state of consciousness referred to as sleepwalking, any act of aggression is impossible. Key word: Consciousness-Continuum. Translating The Poetry Of The Holocaust written by Jean Boase-Beier and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-24 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

Taking a cognitive approach, this book asks what poetry, and in particular Holocaust poetry, does to the reader - and to what extent the translation of this poetry can have the same effects. It is informed by current theoretical discussion and features many practical examples. Holocaust poetry differs from other genres of writing about the Holocaust in that it is not so much concerned to document facts as to document feelings and the sense of an experience. It shares the potential of all poetry to have profound effects on the thoughts and feelings of the reader. This book examines how the openness to engagement that Holocaust poetry can engender, achieved through stylistic means, needs to be preserved in translation if the translated poem is to function as a Holocaust poem in any meaningful sense. This is especially true when historical and cultural distance intervenes. The first book of its kind and by a world-renowned scholar and translator, this is required reading.

Evidence-based medicine (EBM) was introduced to the best benefit of the patient. It has transformed the pathophysiological approach to the outcome approach of today's treatments. Disease-oriented to patient-oriented medicine. And, for some, daily medical practice from patient oriented to case oriented medicine. Evidence has changed the paternalistic way of medical practice. And gave room to patients, who show a tendency towards partnership. Although EBM has introduced a different way of thinking in the day to day medical practice, there is plenty of space for implementation and improvement. This book is meant to provoke the thinker towards the unlimited borders of caring for the patient.

The Biology Of Thought written by Krishnagopal Dharani and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-28 with Science categories.

The question of "what is thought" has intrigued society for ages, yet it is still a puzzle how the human brain can produce a myriad of thoughts and can store seemingly endless memories. All we know is that sensations received from the outside world imprint some sort of molecular signatures in neurons – or perhaps synapses – for future retrieval. What are these molecular signatures, and how are they made? How are thoughts generated and stored in neurons? The Biology of Thought explores these issues and proposes a new molecular model that sheds light on the basis of human thought. Step-by-step it describes a new hypothesis for how thought is produced at the micro-level in the brain – right at the neuron. Despite its many advances, the neurobiology field lacks a comprehensive explanation of the fundamental aspects of thought generation at the neuron level, and its relation to intelligence and memory. Derived from existing research in the field, this book attempts to lay biological foundations for this phenomenon through a novel mechanism termed the "Molecular-Grid Model" that may explain how biological electrochemical events occurring at the neuron interact to generate thoughts. The proposed molecular model is a testable hypothesis that hopes to change the way we understand critical brain function, and provides a starting point for major advances in this field that will be of interest to neuroscientists the world over. - Written to provide a comprehensive coverage of the electro-chemical events that occur at the neuron and how they interact to generate thought - Provides physiology-based chapters (functional anatomy, neuron physiology, memory) and the molecular mechanisms that may shape thought - Contains a thorough description of the process by which neurons convert external stimuli to primary thoughts
