This is a largely ridiculous coming of age adventure book set in the 1980’s. It’s sure to make you chuckle and aggravate any idly standing authority figures. I apologize in advance for any counseling you may require after reading this work. Six Florida-based buddies struggle to maintain their youthful idealism as they travel to New York to stop a local mob boss from blackmailing their friend. During their quest they are guided by a talking tree; a partially invisible spirit-like substance; a hyper-galactic, Bee-ben-bobble playing number stealer; the evil corporate Zukes, and a semi-superhero called Barley Man. After navigating a series of moral dilemmas they stand ready to fight for life, love, and a big bucket of cash. A special note for “old” people: Sometimes parents forget to take their children seriously. Whether it be their emotional stability, their ideas on spirituality, or even something as simple as their tastes in music; somehow, some way, many kids get the feeling that you’re just shrugging them off. Sad really. Perhaps we should enhance the dialogue. After all, kids have so much to say, and so much to ask.So chill out already. Sure the book contains some off-color humor and a few wacky philosophies, but hey look on the bright side, your kid is literate. Way to go parent people! Besides, how badly can it warp their brains? I think the Internet has that covered. Loosen the reigns. Let them dream a little. Who knows, you might decide to join them.

In 'The Bible Exposed -Why God has left the building' the author deconstructs many of Christianity's most cherished illusions. He lifts the lid off the Christian Bible's collection of scientific errors, ancient myths, legends and constant contradictions, and demonstrates that the Bible can only be a man-made artefact untouched by divine involvement or inspiration. The difference between what the Bible actually says and what Christianity teaches will astonish you. For instance, who killed Goliath? Everyone thinks that they know the answer. Everyone is amazed when they read what the Bible actually says.

*Too lazy to drive to his girlfriend's house, a man ties helium balloons to a lawn chair--and ends up at 15,000 feet, closing the L. A. airport. *A Chinese contraception program causes the birth rate to rise when men are discovered taking birth control pills and unrolling condoms over their fingers--exactly as shown in the training film. *A gang of Norwegian thieves carefully uses explosives to open a safe--only to find the safe is filled with dynamite. . . In the national bestseller The 776 Stupidest Things Ever Said--over 200,000 copies in print--Ross and Kathryn Petras immortalized idiotic utterances by public figures and average citizens alike. But what about the doers out there, the people who didn't stop at speaking, but went right out and did something stupid instead? It's time to give credit where credit is due. The 176 Stupidest Things Ever Done is a hilarious collection of inane incidents, senseless stunts, farcical feats, and utterly asinine activities from throughout history, and around the globe. From Sam Goldwyn to Walter Mondale, Albert Einstein to Fabio, the board of General Motors to British Parliament, this comic compendium chronicles the stupidest acts, ideas, decisions, inventions, songs, and ad campaigns that the mind of modern man has been able to devise. The 176 Stupidest Things Ever Done is a non-stop barrage of belly laughs, conclusive proof that actions speak louder--and funnier--than words.

Reprints the 1931 Liveright edition without change except for the correction of a few misprints and misspellings. This section of what was envisioned as a multi-volume autobiography (only the first two volumes were completed) covers Dreiser's life up to his departure for St. Louis to work as a reporter for the Globe-Democrat. Reviewers of the original remarked that Dreiser had out-Rousseaued Rousseau in terms of frank personal revelations and his unblinking treatment of sex. Readers have the opportunity to enter the world of college football and follow one player through his experiences on the gridiron of the Southeastern Conference for the Auburn Tigers. A Tiger’s Walk observes him as he battles the highs and lows of championship and losing seasons, coaching hirings and firings, and personal success and tragedy. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, the self-proclaimed “football capital of the South,” Rob Pate grew up well aware of the significance of college football in his home state. At the age of five he embarked on a journey in football that carried him from a proud youth league ballpark in small-town Alabama to the splendor of SEC football, as well as to the National Football League. Readers can gain an understanding of daily life in college football from the perspective of someone who recently stepped off the field for the very last time. This is one Tiger’s walk in the world of today’s student athlete, helping fans watch from the sidelines and become one of the team.

Urban Grassroots Movements In Central And Eastern Europe written by Kerstin Jacobsson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-09 with Social Science categories.

What can we learn about collective action across Central and Eastern Europe by focusing on activism within urban spaces? This volume argues that the recent resurgence of urban grassroots mobilisation represents a new phase in the development of post-socialist civil societies and that these civil societies have significantly more vitality than is commonly perceived. The case studies here reflect the diversity and complexity of post-socialist urban movements, capturing also the extent to which the laboratory of urban politics is richly illustrative of the complex nexus of state-society-market relations within post-socialism. The grassroots campaigns and actions reflect the new social cleavages and increased polarisation as a consequence of neoliberal urbanisation and global integration, as well as the transformation of state power and authority in the region. Studying urban activism in Central and Eastern Europe is instructive for urban movements scholars generally, as it forces us to acknowledge the variety of forms that contention can take and the usefulness of embedding the study of urban movements within a larger understanding of civil society.
