The Center of Military History is pleased to join the Training and Doctrine Command in reprinting General William W. Hartzog's American Military Heritage. General Hartzog originally wrote this book almost thirty years ago, while he was an instructor at West Point. In 1998, TRADOC republished it to provide a reference that could help drill instructors and other Army leaders instill an appreciation for the lore and traditions that make up the Army's rich heritage.
