An Introduction To Christian Spirituality written by Stephen Haskell and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-13 with Religion categories.

Stephen Haskell was born in 1931, and lives in south-east London. He obtained first class honours in Classics and English from Cambridge University, and an MA in Christian Spirituality from Heythrop College. Most of his working life has been spent in teaching. His first book, The Pursuit of Holiness, available from St Pauls Publishing, appeared in 2016 with an introduction by Rowan Williams, who wrote "This is a really unusual work of profound pastoral theology, coming out of a deep contemplative encounter with God in Christ...I have found it a treasure of wisdom and insight." In the present work Haskell considers the main aspects of Christian spirituality. The book is addressed particularly to lay people, whom he thinks just as capable of reaching perfection as the great names of the past. But the way for them lies not through the time-honoured paths of prayer, but through a total dedication to charity. The book is available from Amazon.

In this very personal book, W. Paul Jones sees the diverse experience of individuals as the backbone of spirituality, and claims that the Trinity affirms a rich diversity within God and within God's way of relating to the world. He considers each Person of the Trinity as being involved in each "function" of God--as creator, redeemer and sanctifier--and arrives at nine dimensions of God's life that invite a response. Jones develops each of the nine dimensions with an extended meditation, followed by a series of practical and creative spiritual exercises.

Introduction To Spirituality Foundations For Spirit Filled Christianity written by Gary Tyra and has been published by Baker Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-06-20 with Religion categories.

This introduction explores Christian spirituality as a pursuit of the global church today. It encourages students to adopt a lifestyle spirituality, which involves relational intimacy with the triune God. Gary Tyra is well known for his work in the field of Christian spirituality and has years of experience in the classroom and in the church. In this book, Tyra encourages us to adopt a Pauline lifestyle spirituality, whereby we keep in step with the Holy Spirit so that we might experience an ongoing mentoring relationship with the Son in order to faithfully and fruitfully engage in the mission of the Father. Keeping in step with the spirit unfolds in a "lifestyle spirituality," a collection of convictions, commitments, and customs that constitute the disciple's lifelong journey with the triune God. This book is part of a new series that reflects the changing face of global Christianity. Series volumes are written by leading Pentecostal/Charismatic scholars who highlight themes of interest to Pentecostal/Charismatic students; however, the books are respectful, appreciative, and inclusive of a variety of church families and traditions. Series editors are Jerry Ireland, Paul W. Lewis, and Frank D. Macchia.
