WHATS IN IT FOR ME? Information technology lives all around us-in how we communicate, how we do business, how we shop, and how we learn. Smart phones, iPods, PDAs, and wireless devices dominate our lives, and yet it's all too easy for students to take information technology for granted. Rainer and Turban's Introduction to Information Systems, 2nd edition helps make Information Technology come alive in the classroom. This text takes students where IT lives-in today's businesses and in our daily lives while helping students understand how valuable information technology is to their future careers. The new edition provides concise and accessible coverage of core IT topics while connecting these topics to Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management, Human resources, and Operations, so students can discover how critical IT is to each functional area and every business. Also available with this edition is WileyPLUS - a powerful online tool that provides instructors and students with an integrated suite of teaching and learning resources in one easy-to-use website. The WileyPLUS course for Introduction to Information Systems, 2nd edition includes animated tutorials in Microsoft Office 2007, with iPod content and podcasts of chapter summaries provided by author Kelly Rainer.

Introduction To Quantum Information Science written by Masahito Hayashi and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-22 with Computers categories.

This book presents the basics of quantum information, e.g., foundation of quantum theory, quantum algorithms, quantum entanglement, quantum entropies, quantum coding, quantum error correction and quantum cryptography. The required knowledge is only elementary calculus and linear algebra. This way the book can be understood by undergraduate students. In order to study quantum information, one usually has to study the foundation of quantum theory. This book describes it from more an operational viewpoint which is suitable for quantum information while traditional textbooks of quantum theory lack this viewpoint. The current book bases on Shor's algorithm, Grover's algorithm, Deutsch-Jozsa's algorithm as basic algorithms. To treat several topics in quantum information, this book covers several kinds of information quantities in quantum systems including von Neumann entropy. The limits of several kinds of quantum information processing are given. As important quantum protocols, this book contains quantum teleportation, quantum dense coding, quantum data compression. In particular conversion theory of entanglement via local operation and classical communication are treated too. This theory provides the quantification of entanglement, which coincides with von Neumann entropy. The next part treats the quantum hypothesis testing. The decision problem of two candidates of the unknown state are given. The asymptotic performance of this problem is characterized by information quantities. Using this result, the optimal performance of classical information transmission via noisy quantum channel is derived. Quantum information transmission via noisy quantum channel by quantum error correction are discussed too. Based on this topic, the secure quantum communication is explained. In particular, the quantification of quantum security which has not been treated in existing book is explained. This book treats quantum cryptography from a more practical viewpoint.

Information Science written by David G. Luenberger and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-01-12 with Computers categories.

From cell phones to Web portals, advances in information and communications technology have thrust society into an information age that is far-reaching, fast-moving, increasingly complex, and yet essential to modern life. Now, renowned scholar and author David Luenberger has produced Information Science, a text that distills and explains the most important concepts and insights at the core of this ongoing revolution. The book represents the material used in a widely acclaimed course offered at Stanford University. Drawing concepts from each of the constituent subfields that collectively comprise information science, Luenberger builds his book around the five "E's" of information: Entropy, Economics, Encryption, Extraction, and Emission. Each area directly impacts modern information products, services, and technology--everything from word processors to digital cash, database systems to decision making, marketing strategy to spread spectrum communication. To study these principles is to learn how English text, music, and pictures can be compressed, how it is possible to construct a digital signature that cannot simply be copied, how beautiful photographs can be sent from distant planets with a tiny battery, how communication networks expand, and how producers of information products can make a profit under difficult market conditions. The book contains vivid examples, illustrations, exercises, and points of historic interest, all of which bring to life the analytic methods presented: Presents a unified approach to the field of information science Emphasizes basic principles Includes a wide range of examples and applications Helps students develop important new skills Suggests exercises with solutions in an instructor's manual

The Problem Of Information written by Douglas Raber and has been published by Scarecrow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-05-07 with Science categories.

Information can be conceptualized in two fundamentally yet contradictory ways_it appears in the world as both a physical and a cognitive phenomenon. The dilemma information specialists face is similar to that of physicists who must cope with light as both a wave and a particle. Unlike physics, however, information science has yet to develop a unified theory that unites the contradictory conceptions of its essential theoretical object.

Making smaller and faster computers is one of the main goals of current technological progress, and is determined by the laws of physics. Quantum mechanics allows us to encode and manipulate information in ways much more efficient than with exisiting (classical) computers. The book is an introduction to this exciting subject.
