Here is a book that provides the classical foundations of invariant imbedding, a concept that provided the first indication of the connection between transport theory and the Riccati Equation. The reprinting of this classic volume was prompted by a revival of interest in the subject area because of its uses for inverse problems. The major part of the book consists of applications of the invariant imbedding method to specific areas that are of interest to engineers, physicists, applied mathematicians, and numerical analysts. A large set of problems can be found at the end of each chapter. Numerous problems on apparently disparate matters such as Riccati equations, continued fractions, functional equations, and Laplace transforms are included. The exercises present the reader with "real-life" situations. The material is accessible to a general audience, however, the authors do not hesitate to state, and even to prove, a rigorous theorem when one is available. To keep the original flavor of the book, very few changes were made to the manuscript; typographical errors were corrected and slight changes in word order were made to reduce ambiguities.

Application Of Invariant Embedding To Reactor Physics written by Akinao Shimizu and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-03 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Application of Invariant Embedding to Reactor Physics describes the application of the method of invariant embedding to radiation shielding and to criticality calculations of atomic reactors. The authors intend to show how this method has been applied to realistic problems, together with the results of applications which will be useful to shielding design. The book is organized into two parts. Part A deals with the reflection and transmission of gamma rays by slabs. The chapters in this section cover topics such as the reflection and transmission problem of gamma rays; formulation of the problem based on the invariant embedding principle; solutions of equations for simplified models; and solving the equations for the reflection and transmission functions based on the realistic cross section for gamma rays. Part B discusses applications to criticality calculations, covering one-dimensional and two-dimensional problems.

Handbook Of Differential Equations written by Daniel Zwillinger and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-12 with Mathematics categories.
Handbook of Differential Equations is a handy reference to many popular techniques for solving and approximating differential equations, including exact analytical methods, approximate analytical methods, and numerical methods. Topics covered range from transformations and constant coefficient linear equations to finite and infinite intervals, along with conformal mappings and the perturbation method. Comprised of 180 chapters, this book begins with an introduction to transformations as well as general ideas about differential equations and how they are solved, together with the techniques needed to determine if a partial differential equation is well-posed or what the "natural" boundary conditions are. Subsequent sections focus on exact and approximate analytical solution techniques for differential equations, along with numerical methods for ordinary and partial differential equations. This monograph is intended for students taking courses in differential equations at either the undergraduate or graduate level, and should also be useful for practicing engineers or scientists who solve differential equations on an occasional basis.

Nonlinear Processes In Engineering written by and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1974-09-20 with Technology & Engineering categories.
In this book, we study theoretical and practical aspects of computing methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. A number of computing techniques are considered, such as methods of operator approximation with any given accuracy; operator interpolation techniques including a non-Lagrange interpolation; methods of system representation subject to constraints associated with concepts of causality, memory and stationarity; methods of system representation with an accuracy that is the best within a given class of models; methods of covariance matrix estimation;methods for low-rank matrix approximations; hybrid methods based on a combination of iterative procedures and best operator approximation; andmethods for information compression and filtering under condition that a filter model should satisfy restrictions associated with causality and different types of memory. As a result, the book represents a blend of new methods in general computational analysis, and specific, but also generic, techniques for study of systems theory ant its particularbranches, such as optimal filtering and information compression.- Best operator approximation,- Non-Lagrange interpolation,- Generic Karhunen-Loeve transform- Generalised low-rank matrix approximation- Optimal data compression- Optimal nonlinear filtering
