The vastness of knowledge in the world differs from the selection and organization of information, so that it can be used positively in society. Organizing relevant and pertinent information in the context of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, correlating tothe relevant aspects in the academic context, becomes the objective of this book, since, as researchers, we believe that knowledge is universal. We have the mission of seeking this knowledge and bringing it to the collective as a way to promote the common good through science. In addition, we have as our central focus the search and understanding about Diabetes Mellitus, especially in its subdivision gestational, evaluating its characteristics and how they affect the physiological and social performance of the individual with this pathological condition. The approach to the theme related to the MDG presents several situations that are closely related to the physiological condition of the individual with this disease who did not have an etiology characterized precisely or effectively cure. As organizers, we hope that the content addressed here can contribute to the understanding and development of new studies on the subject and that this can bring continuity of support in the paths of science, health and multidisciplinarity and integrality that the field of human health involves. We invite the reader to embark on this journey towards knowledge.

Highlighting the unique features of the Brazilian example, it brings together 18 studies by leading Brazilian social scientists on policy analysis as a widespread activity pursued in a variety of policy fields and through different methods by governmental and non-governmental institutions and actors. It shows how policy analysis emerged as part of Brazilian state-building from the 1930s onwards. With the democratisation process of the late 1980s, policy analysis began to include innovative elements of social participation in public management. This unique book offers key insights into the practice of this field and is indispensable reading for scholars, policy makers and students of the social sciences interested in learning how policy analysis developed and functions in Brazil.

Contributions Of Behavior Analysis To Reading And Writing Comprehension written by Alessandra Rocha de Albuquerque and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-11-14 with Education categories.

This book shows how behavior analysis can be applied to teaching reading and writing to primary school students and to special populations, such as children with intellectual and hearing disabilities and illiterate adults. Originally published in Portuguese, this contributed volume is now translated into English and presents for the first time to international researchers and students a comprehensive overview of a research program developed for more than three decades in Brazil which gave birth to a unique teaching program based on the concept of stimulus equivalence: the Learning to Read and Write in Small Steps. The book is divided into four parts. The first part presents the theoretical framework and the historical context in which the teaching program was developed by the group led by Drs. Julio Cesar de Rose and Deisy das Graças de Souza, currently organized in the National Institute of Science and Technology on Behavior, Cognition, and Learning (INCT/ECCE). The second part describes the modules that make up the Learning to Read and Write in Small Steps teaching program. The third part presents results of empirical research conducted with children with intellectual and hearing disabilities and illiterate adults. Finally, the fourth part presents contributions from other areas of knowledge – such as speech therapy, linguistics, and education – to the understanding of reading and writing and possible dialogues between them and behavior analysis. Contributions of Behavior Analysis to Reading and Writing Comprehension will be of interest to researchers and students in the fields of psychology and education interested in the application of behavior analysis to teaching and learning processes. It will also be a valuable resource for professionals directly working in educational institutions, such as elementary school teachers and psycho-pedagogues. The translation of the original manuscript in Portuguese was done with the help of artificial intelligence. The present version has been revised technically and linguistically by the authors in collaboration with a professional translator.

Romance Phonetics And Phonology written by Mark Gibson and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-29 with Foreign Language Study categories.

This volume explores several recurring topics in Romance phonetics and phonology, with a special focus on the segment, syllable, word, and phrase levels of analysis. An international team of experts and junior researchers present research that ranges from the low-level mechanical processes involved in speech production and perception to high-level representation and computation, based on data from across the Romance language family, including from varieties that are less widely studied. The book is divided into five parts. In the first, chapters present acoustic studies, examining topics such as Italian anaphonesis and voiceless fricative sibilants in Galician, while chapters in part two turn to articulatory studies of features including three-consonant onsets in Romanian and rhotic variation in Tuscan Italian. The focus of the third part is perception, and includes studies of perceived phrasing in French and perceptual cues for individual voice quality, while part four examines phonological issues such as Galician mid-vowel reduction and sibilant voicing in Spanish. Chapters in the final part of the volume look at the effects of production and perception on issues in language acquisition. The book draws on a range of experimental and methodological approaches and will be of interest not only to scholars of Romance linguistics but also to all those working in phonetics and phonology from graduate level upwards.

This book contains contributions by scholars working on diverse aspects of speech who bring their findings to bear on the practical issue of how to treat stuttering in different language groups and in multilingual speakers. The book considers classic issues in speech production research, as well as whether regions of the brain that are affected in people who stuffer relate to areas used intensively in fluent bilingual speech. It then reviews how formal language properties and differential use of parts of language affect stuttering in English, and then compares these findings to work on stuttering in a variety of languages. Finally, the book addresses methodological issues to do with studies on bilingualism and stuttering; and discusses which approach is appropriate in the treatment of bilingual and multilingual people who stutter. Comprehensive, clear coverage of the complex topic of bilingualism and stuttering. Approaching this topic from a language perspective, all things are considered from genetic, cortical and environmental to cultural, clinical, even animistic factors! A must-have reference for clinicians and researchers alike!!"-Edward Gage Conture, Vanderbilt University, USA "This book provides useful information about the infrequently discussed issue of bilingualism as it relates to the possible onset of stuttering. With the dramatically changing demographics in the United States, this collection of papers provides both the researcher and clinician with current views for understanding both basic and clinical implications for the various forms of bilingualism and fluency characteristics."-Walt Manning, The University of Memphis, USA
