This cookbook is a melting pot of international recipes from around the world! In The Meltin' Pot, you'll explore a wide range of cuisines as you learn to cook delicious entrees, soups, sauces, and even desserts from all over the globe. You and your family will have a chance to experience a variety of culinary traditions as you try your hand at this diverse array of international cooking. Each recipe is accompanied by an attractive photograph and helpful hints. The Meltin' Pot! While the first thing that comes to mind would be cheese, when I named my book this was the furthest thing from my mind. As a chef, I love experimenting with dishes from many cultures, maybe it is the fact that I am from Guyana, home to six ethnic groups - The Indigenous Amerindian, the East Indians, Africans, Portuguese, Europeans and Chinese. Guyana is a melting pot of cultures, a culture that celebrates everything with food, I wanted to know more, I was inquisitive, and that rich culinary culture fuelled my passion. One of the recipes in my cookbook is Pepperpot, I am partial to Asian food but this is my most favorite dish to prepare. Pepperpot is the National dish of Guyana, origination from the Native people. While it can be prepared year-round, it is the cornerstone dish of Christmas celebrations, Christmas in Guyana doesn't seem quite complete without it. In addition to some signature Guyanese dishes, I have included in my book, a taste of ethnicities from around the world, many being part of the fabric that is my heritage. So come into my kitchen and cook with me.

The hardback edition of this book won the Premio Langhe Ceretto for the best European recipe book in 1997. It is a vessel into which the author, herself Bulgarian, has poured a Lifetime of study, experience and brilliant cookery. I myself (Tom Jaine) visited Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia in the winter of 1998 with it tucked under my arm. It was the code-breaker that de-ciphered the bewildering palimpsest: more appetizing than a history book, and often more instructive. There are recipes, descriptions, pictures, and lists of names of dishes in all the main languages. At the core is Bulgaria, but the other countries of the peninsula are never ignored. The current political mayhem makes this a relevant book, hence my wish to see it in paperback at this juncture.

Pomegranates and pistachios. Floral waters and cinnamon. Bulgur wheat, lentils, and succulent lamb. These lush flavors of Maureen Abood's childhood, growing up as a Lebanese-American in Michigan, inspired Maureen to launch her award-winning blog, Rose Water & Orange Blossoms. Here she revisits the recipes she was reared on, exploring her heritage through its most-beloved foods and chronicling her riffs on traditional cuisine. Her colorful culinary guides, from grandparents to parents, cousins, and aunts, come alive in her stories like the heady aromas of the dishes passed from their hands to hers. Taking an ingredient-focused approach that makes the most of every season's bounty, Maureen presents more than 100 irresistible recipes that will delight readers with their evocative flavors: Spiced Lamb Kofta Burgers, Avocado Tabbouleh in Little Gems, and Pomegranate Rose Sorbet. Weaved throughout are the stories of Maureen's Lebanese-American upbringing, the path that led her to culinary school and to launch her blog, and life in Harbor Springs, her lakeside Michigan town.
