Qu'est-ce que les systèmes économiques comparés La sous-discipline de l'économie connue sous le nom de systèmes économiques comparés s'intéresse à l'étude comparative de diverses approches systémiques de l'organisation économique. Ces approches incluent, entre autres, le capitalisme, le socialisme, la féodalité et l’économie mixte. Il est généralement admis que c’est l’économiste Calvin Bryce Hoover qui a initié l’établissement. Avant 1989, l’économie comparée concernait principalement l’analyse des systèmes économiques comparés. Cependant, après cette année-là, le domaine s’est largement orienté vers la comparaison des répercussions économiques de l’expérience de transition du socialisme au capitalisme. Le domaine de l'économie, qui est l'étude de l'acquisition de connaissances concernant la production, la consommation et le transfert de richesse, inclut cette discipline comme l'un de ses sous-domaines. Le système économique s’établit à l’origine sur la base des désirs collectifs de la population ainsi que des ressources accessibles. Le produit intérieur brut (PIB) est une mesure qui peut être utilisée pour évaluer la performance du système économique ; plus précisément, cela fournirait une indication du taux de croissance du pays.
