Der komplexe Erwerbs- und Entwicklungsprozess fremdsprachlicher Gesprächskompetenz, die aus verschiedenen Teilfähigkeiten besteht, kann langsamer ablaufen, als bei anderen Sprachfertigkeiten. Diese Problematik gewinnt eine besondere Bedeutung für Lernende, die Deutsch nach Englisch als zweite Fremdsprache an den türkischen Universitäten studieren. Diese Studie untersucht am Beispiel der türkischen Germanistikstudierenden die Merkmale und die Entwicklung der fremdsprachlichen Gesprächskompetenz anhand korpusbasierter Daten, die über eine longitudinale Studie gesammelt wurden. Im Fokus der Studie stehen die akribische Beschreibung sowie die Bewertung der fremdsprachlichen Gesprächskompetenz im DaF in Anlehnung an die Ansätze der Gesprächsforschung und Sprechwissenschaft. Darüber hinaus liefert die vorliegende Studie einerseits Kenntnisse über die Curricula der Germanistikabteilungen und Abteilungen für Deutschlehrerausbildung an den türkischen Universitäten. Andererseits bietet die Untersuchung Erkenntnisse im Hinblick auf mögliche Inkonsistenzen und Variabilitäten der mündlichen Sprachkompetenzen von türkischen DaF- und DaZ-Studierenden.

A growing number of deaf and hard-of-hearing students attend regular classrooms where they face specific opportunities and challenges concerning their participation. This book focuses on plurilingual (spoken and sign language) adolescents in partial integration, who are supported by a teaching assistant in the spoken language classrooms. How does the presence of an assistant shape the students’ participation and the overall classroom interaction? This book challenges two tacit presumptions in the field of intercultural communication research. Firstly, misunderstandings can frequently be found in intercultural communication, although, one could not claim that intercultural communication is constituted by misunderstandings alone. This volume shows how new perspectives on linguistic analyses of intercultural communication go beyond the analysis of misunderstanding. Secondly, intercultural communication is not solely constituted by the fact that individuals from different cultural groups interact. Each contribution of this volume analyses to what extent instances of discourse are institutionally and/or interculturally determined. The goal of this book is to formulate a modern theoretical approach for rhetorical studies in a variety of disciplines in the humanities, media research, and other cultural studies. The discipline of rhetoric originally concerned itself with linguistic forms of communication, and its basic theory was developed with such cases in mind. With respect to this ancient tradition, there are numerous books that provide a historical overview of the field. There is also a wide array of introductory works and research contributions that deal with the practice of political rhetoric. On the other hand, only a few 20th century academics have attempted to theoretically rehabilitate rhetoric (after its decline as an academic discipline in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries) and to give rhetorical theory a modern, new, and further reaching perspective. Two notable examples have been Kenneth Burke and Brian Vickers. The book begins with the assumption that rhetoric is not merely limited to linguistic action, but rather is present everywhere in the communicative world. Against this background, this work develops a modern theory of rhetoric, and demonstrates in twelve chapters how methodical rhetorical analysis can be done in selected practical fields of application (Literature, Music, Images, and Film).
