Do you feel overwhelmed and overworked? Are your days often hectic and unfulfilling? Do you want more and better for yourself? Are you ready for a change? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, Just to Behold is the perfect devotional journal for you. Just to Behold was birthed from a place of deep understanding and experience, and it was written for you-the woman who wears many hats. Some days, you are able to wear every hat successfully, while other days, it might seem as though all of your hats refuse to stay on your head. This journal will help illuminate both your successful days and the more challenging ones. By checking in each day, you will be able to plan, evaluate, and most importantly, take time for yourself. Just to Behold will allow you to remove some of those hats and relax, if even just for a moment. By doing this, you will learn new things about yourself, especially how truly beautiful you are from the inside out. Just to Behold will allow you to be and discover yourself. You can laugh, cry, jump, and find the true you. Be warned: this will not be easy. Coming face-to-face with yourself is nothing to take lightly, but it's necessary for a successful, fulfilled life. If you are ready to discover who you really are, hold on tight because it promises to be an adventure!

New Realism written by David Forrest and has been published by Edinburgh University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-03-18 with Performing Arts categories.

The tradition of British realism has changed dramatically over the last 20 years, where films by directors such as Duane Hopkins, Joanna Hogg, Andrea Arnold, Shane Meadows and Clio Barnard have suggested a markedly poetic turn. This new realism rejects the instrumentalism and didacticism of filmmakers like Ken Loach in favour of lyrical and often ambiguous encounters with place, where the physical processes of lived experience interacts with the rhythms of everyday life. Taking these 5 filmmakers as case studies, this book seeks to explore in depth this new tradition of British cinema - and in the process, it reignites debates over realism that have concerned scholars for decades.

Real Sex Films written by John Tulloch and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-03 with Performing Arts categories.

Real Sex Films explores one of the most controversial movements in international cinema through an innovative interdisciplinary combination of theories of globalization and embodiment. Risk sociology, feminist film theory, and critical feminist mapping theory are brought together with concepts of production, narrative, genre, authorship, stardom, spectatorship, and social audience as several lenses of understanding and extension in ways of seeing real-sex cinema. Notions of personal subjectivity and critical distance, disciplinary co-operation and critique, and cinematic perceptions of the utopia and dystopia of love within risk modernity are the tensions exposed reflexively and in parallel, as each chapter focuses different lenses communicating intimacy, desire, risk and transgression. This book substantively, methodologically, and theoretically embraces and engages in its consideration of the images, ethics, double standards, and embodiments of brutal cinema. Crossing the boundaries of film studies, media and cultural studies, the ethnographic turn, risk sociology, feminist psychoanalytical, and geopolitical studies, this is a book for students, academics, as well as general and professional audiences.

The Value Gap written by Courtney Brannon Donoghue and has been published by University of Texas Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-08-08 with Performing Arts categories.

How female directors, producers, and writers navigate the challenges and barriers facing female-driven projects at each stage of filmmaking in contemporary Hollywood. Conversations about gender equity in the workplace accelerated in the 2010s, with debates inside Hollywood specifically pointing to broader systemic problems of employment disparities and exploitative labor practices. Compounded by the devastating #MeToo revelations, these problems led to a wide-scale call for change. The Value Gap traces female-driven filmmaking across development, financing, production, film festivals, marketing, and distribution, examining the realities facing women working in the industry during this transformative moment. Drawing from five years of extensive interviews with female producers, writers, and directors at different stages of their careers, Courtney Brannon Donoghue examines how Hollywood business cultures “value” female-driven projects as risky or not bankable. Industry claims that “movies targeting female audiences don’t make money” or “women can’t direct big-budget blockbusters” have long circulated to rationalize systemic gender inequities and have served to normalize studios prioritizing the white male–driven status quo. Through a critical media industry studies lens, The Value Gap challenges this pervasive logic with firsthand accounts of women actively navigating the male-dominated and conglomerate-owned industrial landscape.
