The topics of anisotropy and bianisotropy are fundamental to electromagnetics from both theoretical and experimental perspectives. These properties underpin a host of complex and exotic electromagnetic phenomenons in naturally occurring materials and in relativistic scenarios, as well as in artificially produced metamaterials. As a unique guide to this rapidly developing field, the book provides a unified presentation of key classic and recent results on the studies of constitutive relations, spacetime symmetries, planewave propagation, dyadic Green functions, and homogenization of composite materials. This book also offers an up-to-date extension to standard treatments of crystal optics with coverage on both linear and weakly nonlinear regimes. Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: The Maxwell Postulates and Constitutive Relations (380 KB). Contents: The Maxwell Postulates and Constitutive Relations; Linear Mediums; Spacetime Symmetries and Constitutive Dyadics; Planewave Propagation; Dyadic Green Functions; Homogenization; Nonlinear Mediums. Readership: Academics and professionals interested in crystal optics and electromagnetic fields in complex materials, including anisotropic, bianisotropic, and chiral materials and metamaterials.

Acoustic Metamaterials written by Richard V. Craster and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

About the book: This book is the first comprehensive review on acoustic metamaterials; novel materials which can manipulate sound waves in surprising ways, which include collimation, focusing, cloaking, sonic screening and extraordinary transmission. It covers both experimental and theoretical aspects of acoustic and elastic waves propagating in structured composites, with a focus on effective properties associated with negative refraction, lensing and cloaking. Most related books in the field address electromagnetic metamaterials and focus on numerical methods, and little (or no) experimental section. Each chapter will be authored by an acknowledged expert, amongst the topics covered will be experimental results on non-destructive imaging, cloaking by surface water waves, flexural waves in thin plates. Applications in medical ultrasound imaging and modeling of metamaterials will be emphasized too. The book can serve as a reference for researchers who wish to build a solid foundation of wave propagation in this class of novel materials.

The Design Of Chiral Metamaterials And Metasurfaces written by Yaoliang Song and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The Design of Chiral Metamaterials and Metasurfaces covers the theoretical and experimental study of the properties of chiral metamaterials (composite media that can be engineered to exhibit unique electromagnetic properties), metasurfaces, and helix-structured systems. This book also focuses on the practical applications of the physical properties and the phenomena that are characteristic of chiral metamaterials, including electromagnetic signal polarization conversion, selection, and electromagnetic wave absorption. Given that chiral materials and metasurfaces offer solutions for manipulating electromagnetic waves by incorporating an additional degree of freedom, namely the ability to control the polarization of the wave, this book provides a welcome update for researchers and engineers working in the fields of optics, radio physics, biophysics, and condensed-matter physics. - Covers recent research work on the design of new metamaterials and metasurfaces - Introduces chiral metamaterials and their manufacturing methods - Discusses the optical rotation mechanism of chiral materials based on the chiral characteristics of natural DNA double helix structural fragments - Presents a theory for the design of new metamaterials and metasurfaces and their applications - Provides the simulation and experimentation of artificial spiral structures, planar asymmetric SRR, nested, multilayer stacking, and interconnection structural metamaterials and metasurfaces

Acoustic Metamaterials written by Richard Craster and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-11-16 with Science categories.

The revised edition of this book offers an expanded review of acoustic metamaterials; novel materials which can manipulate sound waves, surface Rayleigh waves and water waves, in surprising ways, which include collimation, focusing, negative refraction, passive and active cloaking, sonic screening and extraordinary transmission. It covers both experimental and theoretical aspects of acoustic and elastic waves propagating in structured composites, with a focus on effective properties associated with negative refraction, lensing and cloaking. Updated chapters cover filtering effects, extraordinary transmission, sub-wavelength imaging via tomography or time-reversal techniques, cloaking via transformation acoustics, elastodynamics, and acoustic scattering cancellation. For this revised edition, six new chapters have been introduced to reflect recent developments in experimental acoustics and metasurfaces including acoustic impedance gratings and mirror symmetric metamaterials, phononic subsurfaces, time-modulated and topological crystals. The latter two are illustrated by simple Python program examples. The broad scope gives the reader an overview of the state of the art in acoustic metamaterials research and an indication of future directions and applications. It will serve as a solid introduction to the field for advanced students and researchers in physics, applied mathematics and mechanical engineering, and a valuable reference for those working in metamaterials and related areas.

The Nurbs Book written by Les Piegl and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.

Until recently B-spline curves and surfaces (NURBS) were principally of interest to the computer aided design community, where they have become the standard for curve and surface description. Today we are seeing expanded use of NURBS in modeling objects for the visual arts, including the film and entertainment industries, art, and sculpture. NURBS are now also being used for modeling scenes for virtual reality applications. These applications are expected to increase. Consequently, it is quite appropriate for The.N'URBS Book to be part of the Monographs in Visual Communication Series. B-spline curves and surfaces have been an enduring element throughout my pro fessional life. The first edition of Mathematical Elements for Computer Graphics, published in 1972, was the first computer aided design/interactive computer graph ics textbook to contain material on B-splines. That material was obtained through the good graces of Bill Gordon and Louie Knapp while they were at Syracuse University. A paper of mine, presented during the Summer of 1977 at a Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers meeting on computer aided ship surface design, was arguably the first to examine the use of B-spline curves for ship design. For many, B-splines, rational B-splines, and NURBS have been a bit mysterious.
