Step-by-step instructions for painting icons, from original drawings through finished product. For more than a thousand years, Eastern Christians have used their hands and hearts to create icons, proclaiming God’s reality in a visible–and breathtakingly beautiful–way. This ancient art is enjoying a renewed interest in the West, as people of faith create icons and use them to meditate on mysteries for which there are no words. A Brush with God is a guide to painting icons and using them in prayer. Written with warmth and energy, it describes the history of icons and examines why they’ve been a spiritual tool for so many centuries. Written from a uniquely Western perspective, the book guides artists–from novices to professionals–through the process of icon painting, using traditional techniques but employing contemporary materials. Included are eight full-color plates of the artist’s icons.

I have always enjoyed art. I began painting and drawing at a young age. I never dreamed that God could take this love of painting and turn it into a ministry. Prophetic art is simply communication with God through art. It is my form of worship. Several years ago God brought women into my life that would take visions and dreams from God and put them on canvas. I simply asked God to give me this gift and He did. I did have to learn that it is not about the art, it's the message. I had to overcome the fear of what people would think and the worry that it was not good enough. You can go out on the internet and find all levels of prophetic art. My art teacher can turn out a beautiful work of art in just a few minutes, but just as powerful are the stick figure pictures that others turn out. God gives me the pictures in different ways. Sometimes they come all at once. Others come a piece at a time. He always gives me scripture and words to go with the paintings. I am not a professional artist or writer, but I felt God leading me to put my paintings and words into a book to share. Please take time to meditate on the scripture and ask God what He is showing you in the painting. I realize it is something new and different to most people, but sit with these paintings and let them speak to you. They may speak to you in a completely different way than they did to me. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or want to discuss any of the paintings. Of course my desire is to bring you closer to Jesus, my Savior, Redeemer, and best friend.

Practice Led Theology written by Neil K. Ferguson and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-11 with Religion categories.

Following a series of economic and political changes in the late 1980s, art/design schools and performing arts academies were incorporated into the university system. To justify their teachings as academic research, they developed the idea of practice‐led research. Practice-led research recognizes two or more languages—that is, the validity of both explicit/propositional knowledge and embodied/tacit knowledge—allowing for the researcher’s corresponding output, expressed through both the written word and relevant practice. Christians often find themselves living a life of two languages: a set of intellectual beliefs and the practice of being a Christian. This book develops this methodology and translates it for use in theological research. Most importantly, it clearly develops key elements of this methodology using a comprehensive model and detailed definitions. This is a book which not only presents a fully articulated and flexible model of practice‐led research, but also presents Christian researchers with an approach they could incorporate into their theological work.

Both Ignatius of Loyola and Jonathan Edwards wrote about the theme of Christian discernment. Evan B. Howard clarifies patterns of Christian discernment common to both Roman Catholics and Protestants. Yet his study extends analysis further; through a synthesis of cognitive psychology and religious philosophy, Howard provides greater specification of the roles of affectivity in discernment. This will allow spiritual advisors to better guide men and women into an effective discernment process. Psychologists, philosophers, and students of religion will find this book highly valuable.

The Second Deception of Eve reveals the true plot behind the Second Adam's wife, the Church. Galatians 6:7 says, "Don't be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not be made a fool of], whatever you sow, that is what you will reap!" In this book, you will learn the True Love story of God for Man, and why He used Israel to paint His Masterpiece of love for all mankind. This book will give readers a deeper look inside the love of a husband and wife (Adam and Eve) in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. It offers insight on why Satan didn't have to make a significant effort to deceive Eve, and why they were both vulnerable and didn't put up much of a fight. What exactly is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? Are we living in the Last Days? What is referred to as the Falling Away of the Church (The Great Apostasy), as mentioned in 1 Timothy 4:1? You'll be blown away by what you discover! Finally, you will discover a rare revelation about Eve in her current evolved state of evil, from Genesis to Jude, including God's provision for her deliverance. The eyes of your understanding will be opened, and you'll receive a fresh revelation of God's love and how you should live to please Him. Beware! Your deeds will be made manifest! But you can truly receive your healing and deliverance.
