Multinationale Unternehmungen sehen sich dynamischen und komplexen Umwelten gegenüber. Da eine erfolgreiche Unternehmungstätigkeit entscheidend von der Handlungsweise der Führungskräfte abhängt, ist es aus Unternehmungssicht notwendig, das Verhalten der Führungskräfte auf die Unternehmungszielerreichung auszurichten. Hier setzen Anreizsysteme für Führungskräfte als Instrument zur unternehmungszielgerechten Verhaltenssteuerung an. Es überrascht, dass sich die Literatur bis dato sehr dürftig mit Anreizsystemen für Führungskräfte in multinationalen Unternehmungen beschäftigt. Gänzlich fehlen konzeptionelle Arbeiten, die grundsätzliche Einflussfaktoren und deren Wirkung auf einzelne Gestaltungselemente eines Anreizsystems für Führungskräfte in einer multinationalen Unternehmung berücksichtigen. Die vorliegende Arbeit versucht diese Lücke zu schließen. Um ein Anreizsystem für Führungskräfte in multinationalen Unternehmungen gestalten zu können, ist es zunächst notwendig, diejenigen Faktoren zu extrahieren, die zusätzlich zur Betrachtung von Anreizsystemen für Führungskräfte in nationalen Unternehmungen relevant sind. Dies geschieht hier auf Grundlage theoretischer Erkenntnisse des Forschungsbereiches "Internationales Management". In Abhängigkeit von der Funktions- und Anforderungserfüllung von Anreizsystemen für Führungskräfte werden Einflussfaktoren extrahiert, die sich aus dem multinationalen Blickwinkel ergeben. Auf dieser Basis werden dann grundlegende Wirkungszusammenhänge von Einflussfaktoren auf die unterschiedlichen Gestaltungselemente eines Anreizsystems für Führungskräfte analysiert. Die Arbeit setzt sich zum Ziel, mit Hilfe einer abschließenden Konzeptualisierung eine angemessene Reduktion des komplexen Gestaltungsproblems von Anreizsystemen für Führungskräfte in multinationalen Unternehmungen zu leisten. Ihr Beitrag liegt darin, grundlegende Erkenntnisse für die Thematik zu generieren, die sowohl erste Orientierungshilfen für die praktische Anwendung liefern als auch eine Basis für weitere Forschung darstellen können.
