為提升油槽內壁的耐蝕性及確保整體結構安全，須進行樹脂塗覆、除銹、油漆等工程。塗覆作業由於通風不完全，揮發易燃物常會滯留於低處，有起火源存在，如電器火花、明火、熱表面等之接觸時，即會火災或爆炸事故。本計畫依據實際事故案例，針對油槽塗覆玻璃纖維作業進行火災危害成因鑑識分析，研究結果發現作業過程中，主要有二個因素導致火災意外發生，一為環氧樹脂漆與硬化劑混合後的反應放熱，由微差掃瞄熱卡計可知環氧樹脂與硬化劑混合實驗於53.22℃時產生232.01J/g放熱量；另為實際模擬實驗-絕熱分析實驗，溫度由23.5℃上升至177℃。另一為塗覆作業模擬實驗為例，以光照促進其發生火災，以500W探照燈、35cm的距離照射塗覆環氧樹脂的玻璃纖維上，其溫度可高達350℃以上，玻璃纖維呈現嚴重的焦黑，且PVC電線旁有小氣爆火苗產生。因此該火災原因係為環氧樹脂與硬化劑反應熱及光照所導致溫度上升至PVC的自燃溫度263℃，而產生火苗，使環氧樹脂中的二甲苯燃燒。本項研究之分析，提供予業主、勞檢單位及安衛處作為類似災害意外預防參考應用，以期降低財務損失及人員傷亡，將災害損失降到最低。
