The first time that such a complete systematic analysis of the mathematical and numerical techniques related to the orthogonal methods has been given. With the explosion of the wireless world, greater emphasis than ever before is being placed on the effective design of antennas. Orthogonal Methods for Array Synthesis outlines several procedures of orthogonal methods suitable for antenna array synthesis. The book presents a simple approach to the design of antenna arrays to enable the reader to use the classical Orthogonal Method for synthesis of linear arrays. This theory-based book, which includes rapid, effective solutions to design problems for communications applications and broadcasting, is amply illustrated with real-world examples and case studies. Also included in the book is the ORAMA MS Windows-compatible computer tool, patented by Professor Sahalos and his team. Provides comprehensive coverage of the basic principles of orthogonal methods including an analytical explanation of the orthogonal method (OM) and the orthogonal perturbation method (OP) Gives rapid, cost-effective solutions to antenna design problems for communications applications and broadcasting Illustrates all theory with practical applications gleaned from the author’s extensive experience in the field of orthogonal advanced methods for antennas Providing a complete guide to the theory and applications of the Orthogonal Methods, this book is a must-read for antenna engineers and graduate students of electrical and computer engineering and physics.

Describes how to systematically implement various characteristic mode (CM) theories into designs of practical antenna systems This book examines both theoretical developments of characteristic modes (CMs) and practical developments of CM-based methodologies for a variety of critical antenna designs. The book is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 provides an introduction and discusses the recent advances of the CM theory and its applications in antenna engineering. Chapter 2 describes the formulation of the characteristic mode theory for perfectly electrically conducting (PEC) bodies and discusses its numerical implementations. Chapter 3 presents the CM theory for PEC structures embedded in multilayered medium and its applications. Chapter 4 covers recent advances in CM theory for dielectric bodies and also their applications. Chapter 5 discusses the CM theory for N-port networks and its applications to the design of antenna arrays. Finally, Chapter 6 discusses the design of platform-integrated antenna systems using characteristic modes. This book features the following: Introduces characteristic mode theories for various electromagnetic structures including PEC bodies, structures in multilayered medium, dielectric bodies, and N-port networks Examines CM applications in electrically small antennas, microstrip patch antennas, dielectric resonator antennas, multiport antennas, antenna arrays, and platform mounted antenna systems Discusses numerical algorithms for the implementation of the characteristic mode theories in computer code Characteristic Modes: Theory and Applications in Antenna Engineering will help antenna researchers, engineers, and students find new solutions for their antenna design challenges.

A comprehensive guide to the latest in phased array antenna analysis and design--the Floquet modal based approach This comprehensive book offers an extensive presentation of a new methodology for phased array antenna analysis based on Floquet modal expansion. Engineers, researchers, and advanced graduate students involved in phased array antenna technology will find this systematic presentation an invaluable reference. Elaborating from fundamental principles, the author presents an in-depth treatment of the Floquet modal based approach. Detailed derivations of theorems and concepts are provided, making Phased Array Antennas a self-contained work. Each chapter is followed by several practice problems. In addition, numerous design examples and guidelines will be found highly useful by those engaged in the practical application of this new approach to phased array structures. Broadly organized into three sections, Phased Array Antennas covers: * The development of the Floquet modal based approach to the analysis of phased array antennas * Application of the Floquet modal based approach to important phased array structures * Shaped beam array synthesis, array beam forming networks, active phased array systems, and statistical analysis of phased arrays Incorporating the most recent developments in phased array technology, Phased Array Antennas is an essential resource for students of phased array theory, as well as research professionals and engineers engaged in the design and construction of phased array antennas.

Antennas written by Boris Levin and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The book comprises a new method of solving the integral equation of Leontovich, the most rigorous and most effective equation for the current in thin linear antennas. The book describes the features of the new method in its application in various types of antennas. It considers new ways of analyzing antennas, in particular in the calculation of an antenna gain based on main radiation patterns and the calculation of the directional characteristics of radiators with known distribution of current amplitude. The method of electrostatic analogy proposed by the author, provides the base for comparison of electromagnetic fields of high-frequency currents and electrostatic charges located on linear conductors to improve the directional characteristics of log-periodic and director-type antennas. A new approach to the analysis of the electrical characteristics of a microstrip antenna, which allows expansion of its operation range, is substantiated and developed. New results of antenna synthesis are obtained. The second part of the book is devoted to specific types of antennas (the author had a significant role in their creation). Particular attention is given to ship antennas for different frequency ranges. The book is intended for professionals, working in electrodynamics and those working on development, placement and exploitation of antennas. It will be useful for lecturers (university-level professors), teachers, students of radio engineering and researchers working in various fields of radio electronics and interested in an in-depth study of theoretical problems and designs f antennas. It can also be used for short university courses.
