"Un año después del comienzo de la guerra en Irak, se ha producido el mayor ataque terrorista sufrido en Europa y en España en muchos años. Los atentados del 11 de marzo en Madrid señalan el fracaso de la política antiterrorista liderada por Estados Unidos. La estrategia no ha funcionado en Afganistán ni en Irak, ni ha impedido los ataques en Turquía, Indonesia, Casablanca o Madrid, entre otros. La "guerra global contra el terrorismo" lanzada por la administración Bush después de los atentados del 11 de septiembre es un error estratégico, porque el terrorismo no puede abordarse como una guerra convencional ni se combatido con medios militares. Al Qaeda no es un actor de base territorial y no se le puede ganar mediante bombardeos e invasiones ilegales. Una de las justificaciones que se utilizaron para invadir Irak, además de las armas de destrucción masiva, fue la lucha contra el terrorismo global. Pero los intentos en demostrar la vinculación entre Sadam Husein y Al Qaeda fueron infructuosos. La ocupación de Irak está relacionada con los objetivos geoestratégicos de la administración Bush en la región y con el intento de imponer, por parte de los sectores más conservadores de EEUU un modelo neoimperial y consolidar su proyecto político, ideológico y económico"--from back cover.
