Ray makes the case why Christians need to defend their faith by grounding it in Scripture. He brings the subject of apologetics to the "rank and file" of the church with clear examples of why the subject is necessary and doable. The book is a clearly readable and compelling introduction to a subject too often shunned because of its complex language. We need more books like this to get the ordinary believers interested in a lifelong study of apologetics so they can win their family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to Christ. - Rick Schenker, President-Ratio Christi There are many apologetics books on the market, but few like this volume that fits into a special niche. This book gives a perspective that orients the reader to the whole arena of apologetics in a fascinating way. It is interesting, readable, and a very helpful guide to a field every Christian has a divine duty to learn. - Dr. Norman Geisler, PhD (Loyola University) Apologetics For The Rest of Us is not only good arguments for faith, but Biblical arguments. It addresses the Apostle Peter's admonition to be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in us. It tells us how to demolish the strongholds that imprison so many minds in our time. From the Foreword by Charles Simpson Ray Ciervo is the founder of Ray Ciervo Ministries, an apologetic ministry geared to equip the Church for its work of service. Although apologetics is normally viewed (and presented) as a "heady" subject, Ray makes it practical and usable for the Church's work in evangelism and spiritual growth. Ray is married to Joanne (41 years). They have three children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Are you a new Christian and want to learn more about God but don’t know where to start? Are you a busy professional and don’t have the time you think it would take to study the Bible? Are you a curious college student that wants to know what this Bible stuff is all about? Maybe you just want to learn a little bit about Christianity in order to keep up a conversation with your book club or religious friends? Is there something else wrong in your life and you can’t quite put your finger on what it could be? Maybe still you are a leader in a church and you are trying to figure out how to get people like the ones I just mentioned to come to your church—for more than just Easter and Christmas that is. This book will be able to assist with all the above and more in a quest for knowledge while removing the notion that the Bible can only be read by certain people with certain schooling. We believe that the Bible is the word of God and that there is a custom made message in it for everyone who come to it with a willing heart. And that everyone includes me and it includes you.

Publisher's description: How many Christians can defend their faith? I Peter 3:15 exhorts us to be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks about the hope within us. As we prepare our children for adulthood, part of bringing them to maturity should be teaching them biblically sound apologetics. Every Thought Captive was written with that very purpose in mind! Dr. Pratt created the lessons in this book for high school-age students to specifically train them in presuppositional apologetics, a genuine biblical defense of the faith. This book can be used for individual study or with a group. Parents, you may want to study alongside your student, equipping yourself as well as your child!

Narrative Apologetics written by Alister E. McGrath and has been published by Baker Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-15 with Religion categories.

The Bible is a narrative--the story of God's creation, humankind's fall, and God's plan of redemption. And it is filled with countless smaller stories that teach us about people, history, and the nature of God. It's no surprise that God would choose to reveal himself to us in story--after all, he hardwired us for story. Despite this, we so often attempt to share our faith with others not through story but through systems, arguments, and talking points--methods that appeal only to our mind and neglect our imagination and our emotions. In this groundbreaking book, scholar and author Alister McGrath lays a foundation for narrative apologetics. Exploring four major biblical narratives, enduring stories from our culture such as Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia, and personal narratives from people such as Augustine of Hippo and Chuck Colson, McGrath shows how we can both understand and share our faith in terms of story.

The End Of Apologetics written by Myron Bradley Penner and has been published by Baker Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-07-01 with Religion categories.

The modern apologetic enterprise, according to Myron Penner, is no longer valid. It tends toward an unbiblical and unchristian form of Christian witness and does not have the ability to attest truthfully to Christ in our postmodern context. In fact, Christians need an entirely new way of conceiving the apologetic task. This provocative text critiques modern apologetic efforts and offers a concept of faithful Christian witness that is characterized by love and grounded in God's revelation. Penner seeks to reorient the discussion of Christian belief, change a well-entrenched vocabulary that no longer works, and contextualize the enterprise of apologetics for a postmodern generation.

Currents In Twenty First Century Christian Apologetics written by John J. Johnson and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-01 with Religion categories.

In this book, Johnson avoids the standard approach of many apologetic works that seek to "prove," in systematic fashion, that Christianity is true. Rather, he takes the position of orthodox Christianity and looks at various challenges that have been raised against it. For example, should the horrors of the Holocaust force Christian thinkers to alter their view of God's goodness? Is Christianity inherently anti-Jewish for claiming that Jews must embrace Jesus as Messiah? Are revived "hallucination theories" about Christ's resurrection tenable explanations of the birth of the Christian movement? Is the "presuppositional" approach of certain Reformed thinkers useful for doing Christian apologetics? These and similar questions are addressed in this book.
