Nanotechnology in Therapeutics Comprehensive reference delivering a framework to develop and assess nanosystems that provide unique advantages in biomedical applications Nanotechnology in Therapeutics explores the idea that by studying in depth the behavior of living organisms, especially the functionality of their cell membranes, we can develop and evaluate innovative bio-inspired nanosystems that are able to deliver small molecules, biomolecules like proteins, peptides, and other genetic material in terms of the production of new therapies and vaccines. The main concept promoted in this book is an integrated approach for producing new medicines following the nanotoxicity, biotoxicity, regulatory, and ethical guidelines, which are also covered in the book. The book is divided into three parts. Part A provides an introduction and a historical overview of nanotechnology. Part B delves deeper into issues relating to lipid and polymeric nanostructures in medicine. Part C presents the regulatory landscape around nanotechnology and nanomedicine, while highlighting the need to keep an eye on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Overall, this book opens up biomedical applications for previously challenging drugs and drug targets. Written by a highly qualified professor with significant pertinent research experience, Nanotechnology in Therapeutics includes discussion on: Eukaryotic cell membranes, their structural properties, and the thermodynamic payload of their lipid bilayers The DLVO (Derjaguin, Landau, Verwey and Overbeek) theory as a scientific tool for studying the stability and the behavior of nanoparticles Liposomes, lipid nanoparticles, and solid lipid nanoparticles, as well as polymeric nanoparticles, like micelles, polymersomes, and dendrimers Issues in the approval process of nanomedicines by the regulatory agencies, such as complexity, chaos, and nonlinear dynamics With comprehensive coverage of novel concepts that have the potential to transform how new medicines are designed and developed, Nanotechnology in Therapeutics is an essential resource on the subject for chemists in industry, as well as biomedical and pharmaceutical engineers.

Tutorial lectures given by world-renowned researchers have become one of the important traditions of the Nano and Giga Challenges (NGC) conference series. 1 Soon after preparations had begun for the rst forum, NGC2002, in Moscow, Russia, the organizers realized that publication of the lectures notes would be a va- able legacy of the meeting and a signi cant educational resource and knowledge base for students, young researchers, and senior experts. Our rst book was p- lished by Elsevier and received the same title as the meeting itself—Nano and Giga 2 Challenges in Microelectronics. Our second book, Nanotechnology for Electronic 3 4 Materials and Devices, based on the tutorial lectures at NGC2004 in Krakow, 5 Poland, the third book from NGC2007 in Phoenix, Arizona, and the current book 6 from joint NGC2009 and CSTC2009 meeting in Hamilton, Ontario, have been published in Springer’s Nanostructure Science and Technology series. Hosted by McMaster University, the meeting NGC/CSTC 2009 was held as a joint event of two conference series, Nano and Giga Challenges (Nano & Giga Forum) and Canadian Semiconductor Technology Conferences (CSTC), bringing together the networks and expertise of both professional forums. Informational (electronics and photonics), renewable energy (solar systems, fuel cells, and batteries), and sensor (nano and bio) technologies have reached a new stage in their development in terms of engineering limits to cost-effective impro- ment of current technological approaches. The latest miniaturization of electronic devices is approaching atomic dimensions.

Literature Review from the year 2022 in the subject Veterinary medicine, , course: Nanotechnology, language: English, abstract: The objective of this seminar paper is to review the application of nanotechnology on smart drug delivery system, in animal disease treatment and diagnosis, animal breeding and reproduction and also chicken product. Nanotechnology is an exciting and rapidly emerging technology allowing us to work at the molecular level, often atom by atom, to create and manipulate tools, materials and functional structures that have nanometer dimensions. It has the potential to have greats impact on diagnosis and treatment of animals. Unique size dependent properties of nanoparticles have numerous diagnostic applications such as diagnostic biosensors, imaging nanoprobes for magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents. Using nanotechnology multifunctional nanomaterial’s can be designed to image a specific organ, target tissue, access deep molecular targets and provide drugs at controlled release. Great advances have been and are being made in nanobiochip materials, nanoscale biomimetic materials, nanomotors, nanocomposite materials, interface biomaterials and nanobiosensors with enormous prospect in veterinary medicine application. It is a research and development aimed at understanding and working with seeing, measuring and manipulating at the atomic, molecular and supramolecular levels. This correlates to length scales of roughly 1 to 100 nanometers. At this scale, the physical, chemical and biological properties of materials differ fundamentally and often unexpectedly integrated sensing, monitoring and controlling system could detect the presence of disease and notify the farmer and veterinarian to activate a targeted treatment delivery system. This is possible with nanotechnology and could permit a wide range of advances in the field of agriculture, animal and veterinary sciences such as conversion of agricultural and food wastes to energy and other useful by-products through enzymatic nanobioprocessing, development in reproductive sciences, breeding managements, disease prevention and treatment in animals and public health. Applications of nanotechnology and nanoparticles in food, animal breeding and animal productivity such as in meat production, milk production are emerging rapidly. It used to create materials and change structure, enhanced quality and texture of foodstuffs at the molecular level. This technology has a major impact on production, processing, transportation, storage, traceability, safety and security of food.
