This book demonstrates the efficiency of the C++ programming language in the realm of pattern recognition and pattern analysis. It introduces the basics of software engineering, image and speech processing, als well as fundamental mathematical tools for pattern recognition. Step by step the C++ programming language is discribed. Each step is illustrated by examples based on challenging problems in image und speech processing. Particular emphasis is put on object-oriented programming and the implementation of efficient algorithms. The book proposes a general class hierarchy for image segmentation. The essential parts of an implementation are presented. An object-oriented system for speech classification based on stochastic models is described.

Pattern recognition presents one of the most significant challenges for scientists and engineers, and many different approaches have been proposed. The aim of this book is to provide a self-contained account of probabilistic analysis of these approaches. The book includes a discussion of distance measures, nonparametric methods based on kernels or nearest neighbors, Vapnik-Chervonenkis theory, epsilon entropy, parametric classification, error estimation, free classifiers, and neural networks. Wherever possible, distribution-free properties and inequalities are derived. A substantial portion of the results or the analysis is new. Over 430 problems and exercises complement the material.

Pattern Recognition Techniques Applied To Biomedical Problems written by Martha Refugio Ortiz-Posadas and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-29 with Mathematics categories.
This book covers pattern recognition techniques applied to various areas of biomedicine, including disease diagnosis and prognosis, and several problems of classification, with a special focus on—but not limited to—pattern recognition modeling of biomedical signals and images. Multidisciplinary by definition, the book’s topic blends computing, mathematics and other technical sciences towards the development of computational tools and methodologies that can be applied to pattern recognition processes. In this work, the efficacy of such methods and techniques for processing medical information is analyzed and compared, and auxiliary criteria for determining the correct diagnosis and treatment strategies are recommended and applied. Researchers in applied mathematics, the computer sciences, engineering and related fields with a focus on medical applications will benefit from this book, as well as professionals with a special interest in state-of-the-art pattern recognition techniques as applied to biomedicine.

A sharp increase in the computing power of modern computers, accompanied by a decrease in the data storage costs, has triggered the development of extremely powerful algorithms that can analyze complex patterns in large amounts of data within a very short period of time. Consequently, it has become possible to apply pattern recognition techniques to new tasks characterized by tight real-time requirements (e.g., person identification) and/or high complexity of raw data (e.g., clustering trajectories of mobile objects). The main goal of this book is to cover some of the latest application domains of pattern recognition while presenting novel techniques that have been developed or customized in those domains.

Applied Graph Theory In Computer Vision And Pattern Recognition written by Abraham Kandel and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-04-11 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Graph theory has strong historical roots in mathematics, especially in topology. Its birth is usually associated with the “four-color problem” posed by Francis Guthrie 1 in 1852, but its real origin probably goes back to the Seven Bridges of Konigsber ̈ g 2 problem proved by Leonhard Euler in 1736. A computational solution to these two completely different problems could be found after each problem was abstracted to the level of a graph model while ignoring such irrelevant details as country shapes or cross-river distances. In general, a graph is a nonempty set of points (vertices) and the most basic information preserved by any graph structure refers to adjacency relationships (edges) between some pairs of points. In the simplest graphs, edges do not have to hold any attributes, except their endpoints, but in more sophisticated graph structures, edges can be associated with a direction or assigned a label. Graph vertices can be labeled as well. A graph can be represented graphically as a drawing (vertex=dot, edge=arc),but, aslongaseverypairofadjacentpointsstaysconnected by the same edge, the graph vertices can be moved around on a drawing without changing the underlying graph structure. The expressive power of the graph models placing a special emphasis on c- nectivity between objects has made them the models of choice in chemistry, physics, biology, and other ?elds.

Pattern Recognition And Classification written by Geoff Dougherty and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-28 with Computers categories.
The use of pattern recognition and classification is fundamental to many of the automated electronic systems in use today. However, despite the existence of a number of notable books in the field, the subject remains very challenging, especially for the beginner. Pattern Recognition and Classification presents a comprehensive introduction to the core concepts involved in automated pattern recognition. It is designed to be accessible to newcomers from varied backgrounds, but it will also be useful to researchers and professionals in image and signal processing and analysis, and in computer vision. Fundamental concepts of supervised and unsupervised classification are presented in an informal, rather than axiomatic, treatment so that the reader can quickly acquire the necessary background for applying the concepts to real problems. More advanced topics, such as semi-supervised classification, combining clustering algorithms and relevance feedback are addressed in the later chapters. This book is suitable for undergraduates and graduates studying pattern recognition and machine learning.
